Creighton Post game thread

Maybe don't play like crap for 25 mins and a few bad calls won't be so important. Refs suck as always so assume need to play a full game to win.

Hate the Jays...hope the get crushed tomorrow and lose in 1st round of NCAA
It’s not just suck. It is like obvious calls they blow the other way over and over.

I can't say that I'll miss facing Kalkbrenner. Aside from the moving screens he sets at the top of the key and the shuffling of his feet in the low post (just once I wou have liked to have see either called when we played them), he has been a terrible matchup for us as in drop coverage, when we had any of our centers (Sanogo, Clingan, Johnson, Reed) with the ball at the top of the key (for a handoff), Creighton was basically defending four shooters with five players as there was never a threat of our center taking a shot from 20 feet out.

Something I don't understand is why some Creighton player seems to have a career game against us.

We lost. We deserved to lose. On to the tournament.

Don’t get down 17 points . Don’t let the other team shoot 97% in the first half. Give yourself a chance.
Yea defense was the issue. Can’t be down 17 and expect to win. We ran plays for McNeeley because thats how we beat the drop coverage D. He has a bad shooting game. We didn’t have AK most of the game, Ball was bottled up and can’t create. So McNeeley was only one.

Top 20 in adj efficiency though. The system is great. They completely whiffed at PG
They did but getting a point guard wouldn't have cured all our ills. We need a pretty significant roster makeover this off-season and have to retain 2 or 3 guys.

Try some video study Hurley. That team cannot run that offense. They don't have a Newton or Spencer to create a shot at the last second. Just get the ball down court and launch a shot or attack the hoop. Feed anyone that seems hot. Maybe he goes on a tear. Hurley's offense was cute when he had the players, can't run it with these skilled challenged players.

Based on the post game interview and lip reading the altercation between McDermott and Murray, he seems to have taken exception to Hurley’s “2 rings” comment, and defended that his guys felt disrespected by it

You can see him saying something like “come on man, you came to your place and points at finger said two rings.” Then Murray says “I didn’t say that”
The 2 rings was dumb but I don’t see why Creigton felt disrespected. It was Hurley responding with fans who were heckling him.

I think we get a 9 seed against a very tough 8. We might be a day one casualty.

Anything can happen in the tournament and the conference tournament isn't always indicator of how they'll do in the tournament.

Right now can only hope for a good draw in a weak bracket. This team might get motivated if they can win the first two.

Open your eyes, Kimani been carried, by exceptional defensive players like Jackson, Clingan, and Castle.
How do you know he didn't make them the exceptional defenders they are? Clingan made a big jump defensively from year 1 to year 2.
Your argument about the coaching is poor at best. Just move on to another bad take.

LM needs to become a better finisher at the rim. Misses too many bunnies.

I expected us to start strong after Creighton played 2OT game, but that's been us all season. Terrible 1st halves pretty much every game. I can't explain it.
Are you nuts, those aren’t bunnies, those are extremely difficult shots over a 7 footer…which is why he shouldn’t be taking them in the first place.

Creighton exploited matchups in the first half. Alex and Liam were getting exploited (too slow). Spread the floor and took it to us. First half D was pitiful and in the second half we saw a lot of alternate lineups. A couple of terrible calls stalled the comeback.

Lets get in the 8 and 9 game and knock off a 1 seed. Would consider it a good year all things considered.
There have been so many times this year where I thought this team had finally turned the corner only to be proven wrong. Coming out of Gonzaga, at Marquette , at Creighton etc. While I've given up that this is anything more that a pretty good, yet deeply flawed roster, it would be nice to see it all come together just once and see them play a perfect game. Reed's power down low with Ball, Karaban and McNeeley killing it from downtown. If we actually get out of the first round and could do that against a 1 or 2 seed, i too would consider it a "good year all things considered" no matter what happens after
