Bummer. Keep moving down the list. So no Plan A, B, or C. Are we on to D or F?

If true, the plank for BLUEDOG...........

I like the Leron Black/Snider combo as the most overrated duo in the class of 2014. I put the odds at 2/1 to see them in the NIT Championship game.

Just kidding. I wish them both well and hope wherever they go they can live out their dreams with good health and prosperity.

If either ended up choosing UConn I would have rooted like H*** for them.

I'll wait to write Snider off until I hear officially he won't be visiting. Not sure what his feelings are on UConn, but I think his dad really likes Ollie and will push for a visit.

From the kid's perspective, we might have three other guys after PG minutes next year - Boatright, Samuel and Purvis. He can't bank on Boat leaving or Purvis exclusively playing the two. And Samuel is still largely an unknown - perhaps with a talented batch of wings around him, he'll be a good fit as a starting pass-first role player.

Our worst case scenario - not counting injuries - is that Boat leaves, Samuel can't contribute meaningful minutes, and Purvis has to play out of position. But he'd have a lot of hands-on coaching from an NBA PG, so even then we have something to work with.

[quotthat'eboon, post: 683437, member: 406"]As a redshirt soph I'd put good money down on him being a better lead guard than Snider as a freshman, regardless of that they have to go all out for a top PG in 2015[/quote]

And that's the problem with getting a top tier PG in this class. On top of that no one can say to him or his dad Boat won't be there for his St year. If Boat comes back be could be 3rd or 4th option at PT. With all the guard time divide between DH, Boat, OC and Purvis.

In that convo his dad had with Borges he didn't even mention Boat not being here as a possibility. While its certainly something we might feel is possible because of his comments, I doubt too many people outside the program feel that Boat is an early entry candidate.

I dont understand. Ollie should have no problem reeling in PGs that want to play for him. Isn't it obvious how Ollie positively influenced Kemba and Shabazz and helped each mature as PG and men? And I think we'll see it pay off for Boat next year too.

Shouldn't kids be lining up to play in our guard-dominated team? I can understand if we miss out on a few big guys... but PGs and guards? I just don't get it. Maybe Ollie and some recruits feel that Boat might stay around for another year and with Purvis/Samuel in the mix as well that there isn't enough playing time?

Maybe we have our sights set on '15 PG? Who knows

At this point we're praying for Boat to come back, otherwise we'll be depending on either Purvis to be able to play PG full time or for Samuel to be at the level of a starter on a team with NCAA Tournament aspirations.

Kids want to play. There are very few recruits that don't have to consider who's ahead of them at a school they're considering - Wiggins, Randle, those type of guys. Snider is not one of them.

I guess I'm more sanguine than most people. Purvis is going to be a hell of a player. If Boat sticks around for his last year, great. I sort of have a feeling he will. If not, I think Samuel is going to surprise some people - I don't know where people got the idea he's some kind of Rob Garrison 2.0. I don't see any reason to doubt that he can be a competent point guard with one year of schooling under his belt. Either way, they'll be fine.
