Rumor has it Carton was pulling down closer to $2million when all was said and done. No way he's living in NYC with 4 kids in private school on $250K. No excuses for what he did other than he's a bum with a problem and instead of manning up he lied, stole and cheated. He used to brag about trying to pick up women in Philly by saying he was the back up 3rd baseman for the Phillies. He's a shady 48yo man who never learned that lying doesn't pay. I have sympathy for his family and those he stole from. That's it.

Very well could be. Just saying that the quote of his base salary might be accurate.

Okay, well no point in quoting a 250k base salary in any story if his combined income landed somewhere between 1MM and 2MM annually which would make a lot more sense.

Not going to argue with you on that point :)

Mike may have had an on-air beef with Carton, but I doubt he or anyone takes any joy in Carton making a terrible decision and leaving a wife and four kids without a dad.
The ironic thing is Carton had a habit of calling people a fraud. I remember he trash talked Warren Sapp, and Sapp came on the air and offered to fight him. Boomer had to intervene. When Sapp got fired for the hooker thing he went in again. This is kind of Karma.

I liked their show but there were some mornings I just couldn't listen to his sophomoric humor. What's the Ova/unda on jail time?

I'll go with 8 years.

Carton's hallmark after sophomoric humor was calling sports people out. He trashed a lot of people over the years - so yeah the karma whiplash is one of the many eye opening aspects of this tragic rise and fall story.

I'm sure Carton is thinking he can sweet talk his way down to 30 hours community service, but I don't see that happening. He might get a 2 year sentence cut to 1 year if he cooperates. That said, hard to predict white collar sentences.

I really wonder which one of the investors caught on that they were being duped and tipped off the FBI.

I would guess that Brigades compliance team could have called the FBI.

This is simply sad....No other way to say or see it. Like any other form of entertainment you either liked the show or did not, I did.
So much for his betting locks and guarantees...I will never call gambling a disease as it is a habit which for some is additive like a drug. Very prevalent here in our casino supported state.

Looks like Fran Seska as he would call him got the last laugh. His son named "Lucky" along with the rest of the family are not that at all and in my thoughts.

After that, he will then be on the lam from his bookie.

The bookie is still an "Unnamed party" and the court filings show the first $850,000 Carton stole went to this individual. Not saying that's the end of the story though because he's a liability to a lot of people.

I don't think Mike is taking as much joy out of this as people assume. While he despises Boomer and Carton (especially Carton), he's loyal to WFAN. The situation that this puts WFAN in is awful. They will undoubtedly lose Carton and Boomer may bail as well. With Mike retiring, that's the station losing both of their big time shows in the prime spots (morning and afternoon drive).

While Mike will still leave and should in my opinion, he CAN use this to his advantage to negotiate a huge extension and put off retirement till a full replacement for B&C gets off the ground.

The NY Times I believe has an article about this as well, with so much uncertainty sponsors will be bailing left and right on WFAN.

I believe Mike is much more upset than happy about this.

Turns out you were right.

On who? He's the big target.
I don't know, some big time bookies or something. I just get a feeling there are more layers to this onion. Read today his Tic Toc Stop foundation was nothing more than a sham designed to rub elbows with potential investors he could swindle.

Oh we knew the charity was going down. Just hard to see how they'd want some rando book rather than the public arrest.

I vote for Brandon Tierney to replace him... He was the guest replacement this morning... I liked him when he was on the Fan a few years back... I think he'd be a solid replacement...
