. It likely would pay for itself if Hartford's economy skyrocketed.
Why not just say “it likely would pay for itself if UConn beat Nick Saban 72-3 to win the NC.”

Hartford? How about we pretend the Bills want to move to Storrs instead?Sure let Buffalo pretend they’re going to move to Hartford.
Our politicians should then pretend after a sizable contribution to UConn athletics to have bogus plans for the construction of a fabulous facility.
We could repeat this scam every few years when a team wants to extort it’s current city.
If questioned we could just call it a relocation tax.
One of the most densely populated regions in the country. Can you guys just accept that CT is a minor league state already? We're never getting Big 4 sports so just stop wasting your brainpower on it.
he didnt say p4 he said big 4 i.e. nfl, nba, mlb, nhl.You do realize most P4 schools are in minor league locations, right?
sure if green bay can have a football team pretty much anyone can but if san diego and st louis couldnt keep their teams b/c there was more money to be made in bigger markets then Hartford aint getting one eitherLet me be clear. Buffalo or an any other NFL will never move to Hartford. But the reality is the NFL is the one major league sport that could make it in Hartford. With a relatively short season and mainly Sunday games the draw would be beyond the metro Hartford region. Of course, my theory will never be tested.

Jerry is adamantly against. Not saying he’s beloved by his fellow owners but don’t think he’s hated either. He has made the NFL and his owners some $$$Bills to Austin is a done deal.
yeah and over UT's dead body is austin getting a pro football teamJerry is adamantly against. Not saying he’s beloved by his fellow owners but don’t think he’s hated either. He has made the NFL and his owners some $$$
My mistake. Thank you for correcting me.he didnt say p4 he said big 4 i.e. nfl, nba, mlb, nhl.
Aust has 2.3M people metro. San Ant (1.5 hrs away) has another 2.6M.yeah and over UT's dead body is austin getting a pro football team
I agree it should go in San Antonio along w/ the spurs but that's beside my point. UT will do anything to remain the sole "pro" sports team in austin and if anyone has the political influence to do so it's them.Aust has 2.3M people metro. San Ant (1.5 hrs away) has another 2.6M.
Each is bigger than Buffalo, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Nashville, Cleveland, Indi, KC, Cinci.
That area is getting a team sooner or later.
Big 4 is referring to: NFL, MLB, NHL, NBAOne of the most densely populated regions in the country.

It's "Big 4", though the MLS is catching up.Big 4 is referring to: NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA
Major 4 is the right term maybe? I don't remember
No one, except maybe San Antonio, benefits by Austin remaining a 2nd class city. SA already has the NBA. Is Austin going to let them have the NFL too?I agree it should go in San Antonio along w/ the spurs but that's beside my point. austin getting an nfl team is not going to help the university of texas in any way it would just be something they dont want to share all the attention withNo one, except maybe San Antonio, benefits by Austin remaining a 2nd class city.
I still debate whether or not to include them. I'd say it's still too early considering the NHL wasn't even really included until 2005 or soIt's "Big 4", though the MLS is catching up.
I was having optical illusions when I read that post.
The NHL has been a premier league for as long as I can remember. "Big 4" was coined by the media recently.I still debate whether or not to include them. I'd say it's still too early considering the NHL wasn't even really included until 2005 or so
For the record, the MLS is not even close to a top 5 soccer league. It's not the best league in North America and probably doesn't make the cut for top 5 in the Western Hemisphere. As far as Europe goes, the Turkish and Austrian leagues can easily poach players from the MLS, the amount of money being thrown around by the 5 biggest leagues in the world (England, Spain, Germany, France and Italy) is unimaginable for the MLS.The NHL has been a premier league for as long as I can remember. MLS is not even a top 5 soccer league and, unless Europe unifies and does create a Super League, will never be a top 5 league.
They will never catch-up. Their only hope is if other leagues fall. That being said, I do hope the MLS catches up one day but that day is still in the distant future.

The NBA, the MLB and the NFL are a tier above the NHL in terms of their pull and cultural significance in this country but the gap between hockey and whoever you put at #3 is substantially narrower than that between the NHL and the MLS.

What does any of this have to do with the Hartford Bills? What relevance does the success of foreign soccer leagues have to what the gap in importance is between the NHL and MLS.
Because the state of Connecticut is going to pay for them to relocate? I mean doesn’t the state pay all of Hartford’s bills? What does any of this have to do with the Hartford Bills?
Or keep the name and change the symbol to be $-based. The branding for that team would be lucrative. The Bills will need to change their name first. The Williams of Connecticut would be offended.
