Given that Candle has been attacking the portal with full force these past few days, which positions do you think we need to replenish the most right now?

It’s interesting watching this happen in real time I wish this was being filmed on the inside, like a 30/30. I’d love to hear the discussions and philosophy in details.

Someone just wrote that we need more db and s players. Another person said an offer we made to a D3 player who was not a guy that would translate to FBS. Me? I have no idea, but the staff has a plan for year 1 and they are executing. I can’t wait to see the product on the field. Hoping the media does some excellent reporting come spring practice.

More road graders on the O-line and another portal QB or two. Thats just an impression based on who I've seen coming in. There have been a couple really big guys brought in on the Oline but I'd like to see more. But I trust Candle and his staff to go get what we need.

It’s crazy that they’re going to sign like 75 guys. It’s like we are back in trailers. The one good sign is there are very few 1 and doners

Future first and now second seems to be the portal order of business. If the "developmental" guys can't level up and play, the more experienced one and dones are there to hedge their bets.

Anybody know who's currently enrolled for Spring semester now that it has officially started? Would be nice if all these guys were on campus now to begin the acclimation process. Needs to happen ASAP.

With this much roster change I think four things are critical in order to have any type of success next season:

1) The talent that has been brought in has the experience to be effective out the gate.
2) Candle has brought in a staff that is familiar with his system and can implement it immediately.
3) A solid spring session to assess the roster. I fully expect more turnover after the spring session as kids learn their place on the depth chart.
4) A solid QB emerges with a solid back-up.

Every year, P4 teams bring in a D3 player or two. Even as a PWO. Over the last 3 years, watching my son play at W&L, we have definitely seen some skill guys who have the quickness to play at the next level. The WIAC, North Central, Mount Union, and Harden Simmons and Mary Harden all have guys that can make plays but were overlooked because their "measurables" didn't meet the cutoff. There are a lot of suspect D1 guys who get scholarships based on size, not skill.

If Candle offered, I trust him!

Wasn't sure about roster limits, looked up and said 105 on team and can have all on scholarship if want. ChtGPT said average 15 portal transfers last year to FBS teams. That seems way low. But 135 teams X 15 = 2,025 players so that seems like a lot when looked at that way so maybe correct. UConn this year with 60 or more seems way high, probably look at coaching change teams and is high like that.
Interesting to know how college recruiting is changing for freshman, still need bodies to get to 105 total and only so many 5/4/ high 3 players and sitting for few years can cost you nil type money later on. Now that everyone can pay, how does that impact SEC, can't get Cam Newton for "church" donation type money.
The Duke QB situation will be interesting.
