Why do you even post on this board? Doesn’t SC have their own? Can’t believe we have to listen to your Boston rhetoric for another 3 years.Well-ahead of Oregon. I believe its their 2nd title. UConn finishes #5 - worst end-of-season ranking since 2005-06 season.
Boston was a beast as a freshman. They will be tough again next year.
You forgot 2017 & 2018. But seriously, Dawn might be on to something here. We should award championships based on finishing the regular season at #1. So UConn would have another 4 National Championships: 2001, 2008, 2017 & 2018.Congrats to SC for a great season but they don't give out trophies for being No 1 at the end of the regular season.
UConn entered the NCAA tournament ranked No 1 in 2001 & 2008. Do they get to count 13 titles? No.
Any sympathy I feel is for Oregon.

Its obviously a special circumstance with an *, but Dawn did say they will celebrate the achievement formally with a banner or something. NCAA might do the same.
No Tourney, No Championship, PERIOD. SC might recognize, but the rest of the 360+ schools will not. The only thing that they can put up on the wall is AP Regular Season #1. This is the last I will post on this and I will also add another person to ignore. Its obviously a special circumstance with an *, but Dawn did say they will celebrate the achievement formally with a banner or something. NCAA might do the same.
You are correct, this is absolutely pointless. But Gamecock fans are pretending that it’s real, kind of like the Easter Bunny. So I thought I would just jump on the “pretend” band wagon. To continue this pointless exercise - that means you can't count a championship that you actually won if you also weren't ranked regular season #1. So let's celebrate Baylor's win in 2013. You guys owe thanks to Shoni Schimmel and Antonita Slaughter for some of the most amazing 3-point shooting I've ever seen, and to Monique Reid who took it right at Griner at the end and made the two winning free throws.
I’m glad you’re on my side. You forgot 2017 & 2018. But seriously, Dawn might be on to something here. We should award championships based on finishing the regular season at #1. So UConn would have another 4 National Championships: 2001, 2008, 2017 & 2018.
I agree with that. The banner should say #1 in AP/Coaches Poll 2019-2020. It shouldn't say National Champions since one was not officially awarded. What would the banner say? #1 in Coaches Poll? Can't put winner of the NCAA tourney on it, since it never happened.
LMAO.Its obviously a special circumstance with an *, but Dawn did say they will celebrate the achievement formally with a banner or something. NCAA might do the same.
Yes, banner must specify in AP, Coaches, Messey or any specific (such as BY) poll.I think a school should get a banner for every week that they are number 1 in either poll.

Perhaps. It's not really something that championship caliber programs would think was worthy of memorializing.Expect South Carolina to do that.

1997 also! You forgot 2017 & 2018. But seriously, Dawn might be on to something here. We should award championships based on finishing the regular season at #1. So UConn would have another 4 National Championships: 2001, 2008, 2017 & 2018.
