Concert you want to see - 2025

Tickets for AC/DC go on sale Friday. They're the one band out there I've wanted to see and I thought they were done.
Who is left besides Angus?

Would love to see Sturgill Simpson, Billy Strings, U2 and the Boss.

I’m passing on AC/DC in a football stadium they just weren’t ever that good. At Xfinity I’d be all over it.

I got tickets for 8 people to Rod Stewart with Cheap Trick opening. Can’t go wrong. Increasingly there’s nobody left alive or functioning I still want to see. Most of the later acts after the 80s are meh. Third Eye Blind, meh. Weezer was fun, I’d see them again. I’m told Matchbox 20 is good. Goo goo dolls maybe? But these bands have limited catalogs compared to the older acts. John Fogerty was fantastic two years ago. Bob Seger was really good.

Corey Glover, of Living Color, is playing at Small Batch Cellars in North Haven, CT, this Saturday.

Corey Glover Soul Experience. Music at 7.

I small venue with tables. This is a small "winery" right near Rt 91. My wife and I discovered it in September and this will be our third time attending a cool show. The talent booker once worked for Toad's Place and another CT location.

There could be 60 people there. Or 10. One never knows.

I've heard rumors that Beach House will be touring again in 2025, so looking forward to that potential. Their song "Take Care" was the first dance song at our wedding, so we try to see them each time they are on sale.

Also, Westville had a weak schedule last year, so looking forward to that calendar.

I'm thinking I'm still not going to see them. Unless I hit the lottery.

Friendly heads up: Creed is heading to Hartford 7/22/25. Saw them this year and they were incredible, just like their Y2K days. They sold out everything in 2024, so don't sleep.

On a side note, Mark Tremonti is a force that I am not sure everyone may know about. His catalogue is astounding. He even Has a really nice Christmas album worth checking out.

Got an email that Gracie Abrams is playing at TD Garden in Boston. I'm an old fart and don't listen to pop radio. All I know is that (a) she seems to be very pretty and (b) she's JJ Abrams' daughter. I wouldn't have known she was a big enough act to play a venue like that. Likewise didn't know Noah Kahan would sell out Fenway and would be a huge draw. Have heard some of his stuff and mostly like it.

My question is really this: how are music acts discovered by audiences now? Do they just randomly stream from Spotify? Kids don't even own radios. I know Gracie opened for Taylor Swift, but had to be a name to even land that gig, like Ed Sheeran years ago.

Doesn't really answer your question, but I've heard some of her songs on Pandora. Had no idea who her dad is. She's decent, there's other similar artists I like better.

Just picked up JRAD tickets for their show at Westville in May. First time seeing them!

Haven't been to a concert in forever. A couple upcoming that pinged my radar. Zoo Tunes is an outdoor concert series at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. Good schedule. Gillian Welch/David Rawlings (seen them twice--excellent both times) and Regina Spektor in particular caught my eye.

Neil Young is doing an amphitheater tour this summer. I’ll see him again, I don’t care what it costs.
I got tickets for his Jones Beach show.

Shows I've got lineup so far:

May: William Tyler at FTC, JRAD at Westville
June: Goose at Westville
July: Beck at Westville
August: Neil Young

I need to get to this venue. Will always kick myself for missing Stick Figure there. Vacation took me away.

All this Westville talk made me look at the 2025 schedule. Very interested in the Flaming Lips who will be there in August.

Just nabbed tickets for Haim at Westville, excited to check them out live.

Just to circle back to the original post, AC/DC at Gillette tonight! Can’t wait!

Saw Zac Brown Band at Mohegan last week. They killed it and just sound incredible live. All the classics. Worth every penny.

There aren't many (if any) "name" bands I'm really interested in seeing anymore. I've seen many at their peak. Most are well past peak. While I'm familiar with a few newer bands I'd be interested in seeing, wife doesn't follow 21st century music at all and is uninterested unless it's free, and we can drink wine and bring the dog.

We have a free summer concert serieis here, utilizing two parks (one north of city, one south) every Friday. I'm planning on seeing Over the Rhine and learned there's a performance of "Dub Side of the Moon" that I may have to check out (I'd never heard of it, but I'm playing it now - it's a reggae version of "Dark Side" and it sounds pretty great.)
