Just to circle back to the original post, AC/DC at Gillette tonight! Can’t wait!
 
Saw Zac Brown Band at Mohegan last week. They killed it and just sound incredible live. All the classics. Worth every penny.
 
There aren't many (if any) "name" bands I'm really interested in seeing anymore. I've seen many at their peak. Most are well past peak. While I'm familiar with a few newer bands I'd be interested in seeing, wife doesn't follow 21st century music at all and is uninterested unless it's free, and we can drink wine and bring the dog.

We have a free summer concert serieis here, utilizing two parks (one north of city, one south) every Friday. I'm planning on seeing Over the Rhine and learned there's a performance of "Dub Side of the Moon" that I may have to check out (I'd never heard of it, but I'm playing it now - it's a reggae version of "Dark Side" and it sounds pretty great.)
 
William Tyler at FTC was incredible. Expansive and meditative solo guitar work. Nice mix of stripped down acoustic all the way to multi-layered looped out 20 minute explorations.

I just bought tickets to see The Who when they come to the Bay Area in September. I've seen them twice before and know that they are seriously geriatric at this point, but I don't care. One last time to see Pete do the windmill.

Wow, Lacey is back w/ Flyleaf? Hadn't heard that, very cool.

Interesting lineup. Some very old stuff, some oldish stuff and some relative newcomers. A few I'm not familiar with or just don't listen to, but a fair number of those I would definitely like to see live. Have a great time!

Was a marathon day esp since I’m not a Spring chicken anymore but good time nonetheless. Got there for Puddle of Mudd and listened to Extreme, got some food and came back for Everclear and Bush. The wives rode some rides on the boardwalk bc they were free with wristbands, made our way over to the main stage for Rob Zombie’s last few songs and gave the security guy a c-note to let us up to the VIP viewing area for Def Leppard where we watched their set with (we suspect) the band’s family.
 
Any other Boneyarders at JRAD last night at Westville?

It was my first time checking them out and a beautiful night for a show. They rock it out pretty hard and I was impressed w/ Scott Metzger's Bob Weir transformation.

I did this last June. It was completely awesome. To be fair, monkeys playing pickle ball would be awesome at sphere. Go. You'll love it.
 
I just bought a ticket to the Capitol Groove on Sunday. I don't think I know a song by any of the bands but I'm going with an open mind. I think I heard of Cake.

If I were you, I'd leave after Cake, who are super fun. I'm not into Bleachers.

St. Paul & The Broken Bones are fun.

 
Anyone else catch Matt Berringer (lead singer of The National) in Norwalk last night? Overall, really good show and it’s pretty cool to see such a dynamic performer in a small space. Also, he recently moved to New Canaan, so it was a homecoming for him. Overall, his newer, solo stuff is pretty good, and I overall liked it more than his solo stuff.

We have several concerts lined up this summer.

1st is Hozier at Fenway June 11. It's unusual for me, as I rarely go see anybody who isn't older than I am (58). My daughter loves his music and my wife likes it and says I will too. I have heard some of it.

Next is Barenaked Ladies, with Sugar Ray and Fastball in Boston at Leader Bank. This is mostly just because I really like the venue and the bands are all fun and good enough.

Then Cheap Trick opening for Rod Stewart at Great Woods/Xfinity in Mansfield, MA. We have a group of 8 for this show, sitting 4 and 4 behind each other in two rows. Should be fun.
 
I will be at the Styx show in Bridgeport on July 15 and then Cindy Lauper at Jones Beach on July 19.

However, I'm going on a concert bender in September:
  • Pulp @ Suffolk Downs in Boston on September 13
  • Morrissey at Radio City Music Hall on September 16
  • Michael Schenker somewhere in NYC on September 19
  • X / Los Lobos somewhere in NYC on September 25
  • David Byrne at Radio City Music Hall on September 30
  • The Raveonnettes somewhere in NYC on October 1
 
Capital Groove for me today. Sounds like it went well yesterday, weather should be great today if hot.
 
Anyone else at the Beck show at Westville last night? Played with a 80-piece orchestra of mostly Connecticut musicians dubbed the "Westville Philharmonic."

Absolutely loved the show. Took Beck a few songs to loosen up, but it was a nice mix of his ballads, a few covers and a few of his classics (New Pollution, Where It's At). The encore started with Beck just wandering around the stage exploring the orchestral instruments (which was actually class banter) before the remaining "rock musicians" played a few of his better known songs.

Yet again, another excellent show at my favorite music venue in CT.
 
Really wanted to get to the Sea .Hear.Now festival, Friday’s lineup looks great. On the waitlist for now.
