Super sophomore class - all deserving:

Anigwe, Durr, Collier, Samuelson, Ogunbowale. All deserving of being on the list. All terrific players...

It's a good list, and hard to argue about anyone there. A few omissions that come to mind:
  • Katelynn Flaherty, Jr., Michigan (19.9 points per game)
  • Monique Billings, Jr., UCLA (17.8 ppg, 10.5 rebounds pg)
  • Brooke Schulte, Sr., DePaul (16.4 ppg, 52.2% FG)
  • Mehryn Kraker, Sr., Green Bay (19.1 ppg, 3.6 assists pg)
Interesting that Notre Dame got three players on the list (the only team other than UConn to do so, in fact) while Baylor only got one (A. Jones) and Texas none. I'll try to put a positive spin and take that as a tribute to how well balanced the latter two teams are.

How would YOU like to have to choose the winner from among this list? No doubt your 2016-2017 ALL-Americans will come from this list as well. The announcement said: "Collier, who ranks third in the nation for field-goal percentage (68.7),
has been consistent
across the stat board this season".
I don't know who the other selectees will be, but Collier MUST be on any AA list this year!!! I love all 3 of our candidates, but if only two are chosen from UConn, Collier must be one of them.

Since the early season losses I think Texas has been a bit under the radar, and I would say they are fairly balanced. But in the Baylor game I thought McCarty really stood out.

I think Katie Lou just might have shot herself out of contention for the 10 semi-finalists, but Napheesa has most likely played herself in.
