Grambling State won last night 159-18 against The College of Biblical Studies. Exactly how bad are their opponents?

Grambling is 6-5 but 3 of the wins are against non D1 teams.

They have gotten pounded by most known schools.

Other wins over Nicholls, NW St, and … Arizona St (eek)

The College of Biblical Studies team is comprised of all freshmen. This is the first women’s basketball team - ever - for the school and Grambling was the 7th game of the season.

The only question I had was how unscrupulous is Grambling State's head coach to run up the score like that? No way that happens without a concerted effort to have no shame and go for the all-time record.

Yeah they scored 35+ points in every quarter.
As a Christian school, they are probably turning the other cheek. I on the other hand would be decking some players once they got above 110.

How does Grambling have buy games? When your attendance is 65, where does the money come from?

I was talking about the other team. Even lower D1 schools can make money playing high D1 games

Right, you were saying the Bible school was getting money to pay Grambling. To which I’m saying: how does Grambling have any money to afford a buy game?

Buy games are paid out of the proceeds from ticket sales. But Grambling isn’t even getting 100 people, so where would the money be coming from?

Bottom line: I’m skeptical the Bible school got money for this.

Got it. That makes sense.

And just in case anyone is curious, the College of Biblical Studies is located in the very ethnically diverse Sharpstown district of southwest Houston. Seemingly any cuisine from any spot on the planet is within about a 10-minute drive.

I'm hoping it's just the camera angle but bless her heart, is #24 in the background any taller than around 4'9"?

Following the loss, College of Biblical Studies-Houston is now 0-7 in its inaugural season. Massey ranks them as #2006 across all divisions of college basketball.

think of it the reverse way... you get all your worst evers out of the way so you don't have to worry about having them ever again

Plebe answered my question about how bad they are, so the follow-up question is: Why did Grambling State play them? Not a preseason exhibition, not a senior homecoming game like Connecticut at Toronto Metropolitan, so what was it?

ESPN also called it the biggest win in Division I history, which seems odd since it wasn't a Division I game.

The coach didn't take this game without money coming in. Grambling was a buy opponent fort Minnesota, Oklahoma, Houston, South Florida, and North Texas. They have enough money to make a difference for a school the size of Biblical Studies.

I bet LSU is dying to schedule them next year
LSU (or somebody else) should schedule Grambling and tell the players "if you break the record, you get a day off practice"

Prolly much dangerous to player safety to RUTS against Grambling than against the Bible school though
