Yes - but would you get on your cell phone and call the cops and press charges? Or if there was a cop in the bar, do you think he would make an arrest, or just step in and try to defuse the situation. If there was a bouncer, the guy would probably be thrown out - which is what happened in the game.Why should it be up to MCBB officials? It should be up to the police.
Say you exchange words with somebody in a bar. You get up to leave and as you walk away the guy deliberately trips you and you fall to the ground. Injured or not would you consider that you had been assaulted? Battered? Why should it be any difference just because a game was going on.
And the player has been suspended by his team for 4 games - good move on their part, and who knows if the conference or the NCAA will add to that after review.
