Mid Atlantic has had their first significant snow fall in some time. Temps have not gotten above freezing for a week or so. That is unusual for this area. The dog (part husky mix) loves it.

I'd take Saratoga Springs over anywhere in Florida.
Roses and camellias are still in bloom and I can take a long walk 365 days a year. No shoveling snow, either.

I do miss good pizza and Chinese food, though

I grew up in Lake George area embracing winter with Skiing and snowmobiling. I remember the morning it hit 41 below zero and thought little of that. What did I do ? I moved south to the MA border with Ct. Now, in my 60's I don't like the cold but I m not a Florida type of person.

Here in the Piedmont Triad area of NC, Sunday we had our first measurable snow since three winters ago. The day temperatures have been in the low 30s all week and in the mid teens at night. Our remaining 4 goats and 5 horses don't like the snow and cold anymore, like me, it seems harder to take the older we get...

We’re about 15 degrees below normal in the DC area with 8” of snow on the ground. As I’m fond of saying, I didn’t move south of the Mason-Dixon line for this. Fortunately it’s not all that common. I’ve had a snow blower for 10-12 years, and this storm is the first time I’ve used it.

Currently it's 50 with a wind chill of 41, so I might have to wear a light jacket when I take my car to the shop for it's semi-annual maintenance this morning. It's supposed to get down to a low of 36 tomorrow.

I hate the cold, but I'd still rather be a little bit cold here on the east coast than be on fire like they are in LA.

They wouldn't have these fires if the State would let PG&E put all of their cables underground.

Hard to have a lot of sympathy for the snowbirds living in FL when we haven’t seen the north side of freezing in upstate NY in over a week with another week of frigid weather to come. Yesterday, I braved the cold to take down our Christmas lights and then collapsed on the couch.

I’ve always been something of a contrarian. I used to live in Ponte Vedra Beach outside Jacksonville. But a series of moves north lead me and my wife to retire near Saratoga Springs, NY. I’m not a skier or winter weather person, so it’s difficult to figure out what in the hell I was thinking…..;)
No snowbird here. Full time Floridian now.

Pretty ordinary for this time of year, except for the vicious wind.

Florida is fine if you enjoy heat, humidity, and stuff we don't talk about here.

Tucson - had a nice warm winter so far. That's over. Today was supposed to hit a high in the low 50's, but I doubt it. Huge 24 hours of wind just ended. 48 feels like 41 when we came out of a movie.

Wind is supposed to end. Temps in the high 50's or so for about a week, chill but not unreasonable. Overnight low in the area of freezing. Also fairly normal for January. Then up to the mid-high 60's, about what is expected.

The last week of the month we are planning to go to Colorado and Utah away games, now that could be chilly.

I've been in central FL for about 9 years now. As others have said, we are in a cool snap - lows about 40 and highs in high 50s. Having lived in places where winter was pretty cold (NJ, CT, NC, TN) I have to say that I don't miss having five or six months of cold weather. For instance today I was in a tennis court and it was a great day for it.

I've enjoyed the winter activities from taking the dog on long walks in snowy woods, to shoveling the walk or skiing et al. There are lots of things about FL I'm not fond of. Shorts and a tee 359 days a year isn't one of them

Quite warm here in So. Cal. Most of us not having a firestorm of fun. Hail to our firefighters who are working up to 48 hour shifts. Relief soon as the winds die down and help from other states arrive.

So some friends were trying to talk us into a winter hike up Washington this weekend, but we all bailed.

Just so Nan feels good about no beach today, in Gallatin Cty, SW Montana at 9 AM it was 7 degrees fahrenheit. I froze my you know what off warming my truck up to melt the glaze off my windshield. Feel better Nan?

Hey, I had to wear a jacket
Being from Indiana and being stationed in cold weather climates 22 of my 24 years of service I usually don't wear a jacket here in Las Vegas. I might wear a sweatshirt or sweater but nothing heavier, I only break out my winter coat if I'm going to Mt. Charleston or to my brother's house in Utah.

Low 40s this am in Land O Lakes (no, not the Wisconsin one, or the butter one). I'm a born and bred new englander, so the cold weather is fine by me, as it tends to center me a bit. After 10+ years down here, I still cannot embrace shorts & t-shirts 365 days a year. Headed to Busch Gardens with friends in my jeans (yay!) and a puffy jacket. Got my 9000+ steps in, saw a Queen tribute band, and had a Midnight Expresso beer and some popcorn, and best of all, lots of laughs.

Lemme add to the chorus bemoaning the wind. Here near the Continental Divide of Montgomery County (TM), we haven’t had relief from the wind in about a week. Steady 15-20 mph wirh high around freezing is really unpleasant.
