You mean Diaco isn't going to start a walk on that can throw a football into a trash can 50 yards away? Sorry couldn't resist.

I'm glad Diaco named a starter. I was in the crowd that would have been happy with whoever he picked. I can't wait to see this team take the field.

I have no idea what this means in reality. I'm hoping...I don't what I hoping...it's a ridiculous statement that I didn't think BD had in him. CW playing H-Back? Tight End? This has never worked in my recollection. I guess I'm hoping he is lying.

Maybe I am crazy but I thought it was pretty obvious that he was talking about practice reps. That said, maybe splitting the practice reps so evenly isn't a good idea but I think its pretty obvious what he meant.

Agree 100%. We have a starter. No need to state that 51/49 nonsense.
No bashing here but only the uninformed and those not following the program would have thought this would have gone any different or not known who the starter would be.
As for the 51/49 nonsense. Read closer and realize that it is stated as closer to 49% rather than 15% ...Not a stickler for stats but the fact is he meant and said the back-up would get a hand full of plays. Nothing close to half of them.

A handful is a lot closer to 15% than it is to 85%. The reality is that this was a press conference and games are played on a field. We will learn more a week from Friday.

My guess is 65/35 split or something close. He will have packages for Whitmer that will be run during certain situations in the game.
Casey is that starter and that is all that matters.

John Silver explains it as 51/49 as in game reps.

Diaco's first fumble IMHO.

FWIW ~ Fuller has it as practice reps.

Cochran heading into season as UConn's No. 1 QB:
http://runwayramblings.blogspot.com/2014/08/cochran-heading-into-season-as-uconns.html

>>As Cochran mentioned, the plan is for both Cochran and Whitmer to see action in games. Diaco didn't have a preset scenario where Whitmer, who started 16 games over the previous two seasons, would get a certain amount of plays or get onto the field in particular situations.

In practice Diaco said the repetitions with the starting offense will likely be closer to a 51/49 percent breakdown than the maximum 85/15 allotment of snaps.<<

Great article by Silver, both QB's were completing close to 65% of their passes in practice! I guess Casey is no longer a poor practice player.

anybody complaining should realize that depth is important. We could easily have had a walk-on as our back-up. Cody Whitmer is a good player and deserves a chance to compete for a real coaching staff.

Gotta love that the offense will be tailored to each players strengths. Hopefully shotgun and 4 wideouts for Casey.

I would be shocked if this works out to be 51% to 49%. I'm sure the job is Casey's until he screws it up. The Huskies are going to run the ball most of the time. The O line is going to be better than forecast and the running backs are going to be effective. UConn will surprise this year and the passing game will be decent. I'm expecting to get 200 yards per game on the ground. The air game will be better than last year. Success against BYU requires a defense that contains Taysum Hill.

I'm good with it. CC had a solid finish last year. Not a bad choice at all to start the opener.

Tyler Lorenzen, aka Lorenzon, aka Lorentzen?
That's Jared Lorentzon you're thinking of.

The C. Whitmer thread was pretty darn funny. That was before P and GDL took away the laughter.

heres the youtube video from today's presser. Very well scripted and thought out by Diaco.

Wow Casey looks more jacked up compared to Chandler and has a crazy mullet too

Good Call, Casey looks like a different person, ready to take it to another level. Take UCONN and the points.

Oh my god that mullet on Cochran. I just... I don't even know where to start.

The best part about the haircut is that it's an improvement from the one he was sporting at the spring game.

They're going to make a TV drama version of Pony Excess, and Cody is going to star in it. That's the only possible explanation.
