We had something like this happen in our Catholic school league here. A 7th grade parent got into a shoving match at a girl's game with an opposing team's parent. So ridiculous. The bishop threatened to kick both schools out of the league completely.

In little league I benched a kid once for not showing up at practise. After the game his father came up and started yelling at me. Then he started bumping his body against mine, I think in an attempt to make me throw the first punch, which I didn't. Could have gotten really ugly until a few other parent came over and surrounded me.
So what's wrong with these types? I think it's because they are trying to re-live their past. Trying to accomplish something they were unable to do through their kid, and thus accomplishing some sort of retribution for their failures.

They're just bullies.

But hey, bullying is just part of life, right?

There are Bully Parents, for sure, but there are many more parents that are involved and provide a role model for their in sport
children. Also, many parents could care less, just dropping their young athlete off and going on their way.

My memories of coaching surround not what was wrong with parents but rather what was wrong with myself. Lots of self learning to do when one is the responsible adult.

Ah, yes, the Stop N Drops. I've given many kids whose parents forgot to set the alarm on their iPhone a ride home.

Another hypothesis for some of them. On a subconscious or conscious level, they are not as nurturing as they might be. They get a hair trigger when another "mistreats" their kids and project their self-anger on to others.

I love to watch my grandchildren play baseball and basketball but when I go to the games I have to watch as far away from parents as possible.Parents who try to live vicariously thru their children are the ones that cause the most prolems
