Penn State at 7-1 and 4-1. Hot seat for James Franklin? "chokingest big time coach in recent college football history"

Granted Ohio State is always tough but Penn State has beaten a ranked Illinois (at that time) and that is it.

This guy has Trent Dilfer at UAB on the hot seat.

"UAB was able to snap a six-game losing streak with a decisive 59-21 win over Tulsa, but the Blazers are still 2-7 and will likely be listed as underdogs in the four games left on the schedule. Running the table and making a bowl could potentially provide Trent Dilfer with the momentum he needs to prove the program is actually headed in the right direction despite the mountain of evidence that’s amassed this season suggesting otherwise, but I find it very hard to believe that will end up being the case."

This just means that getting rid of Napier means getting rid of the AD. Which the boosters will easily do if they remain unhappy.

Florida doesn't look too bad. Much better than the beginning of the season. With the expanded playoffs I think coaches are going to get my leeway because they don't have to be as "perfect" to get into the playoffs.

The team looks better except for QBs. They are down to their 3rd and 4th string QBs who are both preparing for Texas game.

Lagway hasn't been too bad when healthy and firing Napier likely means he transfers out. This was as much about keeping that talent in Gainesville as anything.

Napier further benefits from the scandal around the MBB coach, which will take the spotlight for a little while.

  • UNC — time for Mack to retire for good
  • UAB — only 2 seasons so Dilfer may get more time but so far a disaster
  • Fla — buyout likely too big
  • FSU — ditto
  • Pur — also only 2 years
  • Aub — who would’ve thought that hiring a scumbag wouldn’t work? But also only 2 years
  • USC ? Lincoln Riley has not exactly turned out as promised

Top of my list fell today with Mack getting axed.

Napier making a lot of people look stupid now that his team is finally putting it together

Maybe, but he is going to be watched closely at the start of next year I think. If they stumble early, they will be calling for his head I am sure. I think having Lagway there has really sort of saved him because nothing represents hope like a QB.

It certainly helped that Lagway was not done for the season as it first appeared. I believe that Florida has the toughest schedule and they are definitely playing better. Their remaining game is against FSU and they better kick their butt.
