I definitely would say so. Colonial gets 2 teams in every once in a while.

Massey: Colonial 17, Southland 32
RPI: Colonial 10, Southland 25
True that the Colonial is all-around a better conference. But it's been a while since the CAA could be considered a multi-bid league. I believe last time the CAA got an NCAA at-large bid was 2009, when VCU was a #10 seed. However, it's worth noting that James Madison was among the committee's last 4 out this year.

(Geeky quibble: Massey's conference rankings are *slightly* skewed because they separately count the MAC East and West and the OVC East and West. So the Southland was 32nd out of 36 in Massey, which equates to 28th out of 32 D-I conferences.)

@BlakeDuDonis
Can confirm that former Vanderbilt head coach Melanie Balcomb and current Rutgers assistant coach Nadine Domond were also finalists for the College of Charleston job. #NCAAW

If Melanie Balcomb is interested in the CoC job then she might as well emerge as a candidate for the UNC job.

Bad news for my HPU Panthers

I can't blame her...... coming off the best season in program history..... and losing most of the key players.... it was time to strike when the iron was hot.

I hope that he is right. Interesting comment at the end.... concerning the campus. Also, HPU is opening a new $130 Million Dollar Arena and Conference Center in 2020..... that might just be the top mid-major arena in the country when it opens. That might make the job even more attractive.

While she's losing a lot of key players in High Point, she's walking into a situation where the two best players are coming back (and Dickerson is really quite a talented scoring point guard). And Duffy had a good recruiting class.

Still, a new coach at High Point could take advantage of the campus, facilities and a year or two "grace period" to get in her/his players. Will be interesting to see who goes after this....

Are there Cracker Barrel Restaurants near HPU? It is a must for anyone who has been in Tennessee for most of their lives.

Lauren Sumski, better known to many of us as Lauren Avant was named head coach at Lipscomb. Avant was a highly rated recruit at Tennessee before injuries -- and supposedly a desire to concentrate on getting into med school -- led her to transfer to D3 Rhodes College as a soph.
After being a D3 assistant, she returned to Rhodes as head coach *two* years ago. They went 35-21 during her time. Now at age 27 she's head coach at Lipscomb.
She mustve given one hell of an interview because her resume seems rather, um, thin.

I have candidate in mind for the HPU job.......... A young energetic assistant with experience at 3 Power 5 programs.... played in the ACC...... a North Carolina Native........ experience in recruiting.. and someone who would be able to relate to the youngsters of today. Any guess on who Im thinking of???

I may be biased but I love this hire. 3 years of assistant coach experience followed by 2 years as a D1 head coach. Took over a program that went 5-21 the year prior and led them to an 18-9 record. Played 4 years of college basketball. Not a thin resume for a school like Lipscomb. Extremely impressive considering she is only 27. She was an excellent student as well and has her Masters. I'll be following her program over the next few years.

Three very interesting AC hires reported today by Raoul Man of Mystery:
  • Jackie Nared as AC at Arizona. She's the sister of Jamie and a former AC at Washington State.
  • Dean Lockwood (longtime Tennessee AC) and Kristin Haynie (PG on the 2005 Michigan St team that lost the championship game to Baylor) both hired as ACs at Michigan State.

Suzy Merchant hired a male assistant coach. What are we to make of that?

Clearly she's either a bully or an advocate of bullying.
Quick edit to add: /s.

Also has been on staff with Oregon and Washington. She's gonna have the whole Pac 12 covered at this rate.

I figured @Plebe or @CamrnCrz1974 would come up with the answer
