You would think that Kimani has the resume to land a little further up the food chain.Selfishly and with proximity and history in mind, I do not want this to be a potential Kimani landing spot.
I’m sure there have been exceptions, but most first-time head coaching positions aren’t P5.You would think that Kimani has the resume to land a little further up the food chain.
Think he just meant there are still better jobs than UMass that aren't necessarily P5 - my take anywaysI’m sure there have been exceptions, but most first-time head coaching positions aren’t P5.
But have any of them won honestly? Ok, maybe Jack LeamonThere are coaches who have won at UMass. But I think they have only made the NCAA once this century. As I posted, I think Kimani can do better.
-> Potential names expected to be involved in UMass' coaching search include Vermont's John Becker, Missouri State's Dana Ford, Wagner's Bashir Mason, Yale's James Jones, Bryant's Jared Grasso and former Indiana coach Archie Miller. <-
Tony Stubblefield. likeI’m sure there have been exceptions, but most first-time head coaching positions aren’t P5.
Haven't UMass fans been saying that for the last quarter century?Marcus Camby
UMass is an awesome coaching job with a ton of upside. The A-10 is a fun regional basketball conference, great rivalries, and a chance for a quality guy to make UMass overshadow the clowns in chestnut hill. Also a good stepping stone for someone with higher aspirations. UMass should rise to dominate the A-10.

Not that likely. Kimani will have much better options especially if we can make noise in the Tournament.Selfishly and with proximity and history in mind, I do not want this to be a potential Kimani landing spot.
Better job, UMass or URi? I think URI based on more recent success, fanbase with a pulse, and location.UMass will not be the only neighboring state university with an opening.
If Kimani should leave….Maryland is looking too.Selfishly and with proximity and history in mind, I do not want this to be a potential Kimani landing spot.
Man, that is a tough call. If he went to UMass, he’d have the brand spanking new Treehouse South Deerfield location just 10 minutes away (plus, Nate has added his version of apizza at that location). URI has the beautiful and bucolic Tilted Barn Brewery 10 minutes away. Toss up for me. The fact that TH has upped their lager game lately might tip the scales in UMass’s favor.Better job, UMass or URi? I think URI based on more recent success, fanbase with a pulse, and location.
I agree. I could see Bobby Hurley or Archie Miller.Honestly, this strikes me as more of a step-down job than a step-up job.
Someone who just got fired from a P5 spot, UMass looking to make a splashy "name" hire.
This would be an awful spot for Kimani Young. He's not ready for a power conference, but there's gotta be a sexier mid-major job out there.
Doesn't mean they've been wrong for 25 years. Just a little slow on the uptake.Haven't UMass fans been saying that for the last quarter century?![]()
UMASS would not be a bad job for Kimani. Y’all have to remember he has no HC experience. First time HC in the A10 is a great start.
People who think he’s getting a P5 job off the bat surprise me. P5 schools have the recourses to take on less risk, even if Kimani could be a home run.I agree 100%. I don't understand this "Kimani could do better" talk. Based on what exactly can he do better? Hurley had to turn around Wagner before he landed an A10 job. The A10 is a good league and UMASS has as much potential as any team in that league.
More than likely Kimani doesn't have the resume for the job as they will probably want someone who has proven themselves as a head coach. If he did get offered the job he should jump at it.
Live in VT, go to some games, read the paper every day and I have no idea what you are talking about. Please tell what this is.Becker is in some hot water at Vermont involving MBB players accused of sexual assault. Don't think UMass touches him.
