Clingan ranked No. 1

Bronny James at 55 and Tristen Newton at 64 is all you need to know about these rankings.
Ehhh, Bronny is unquestionably buoyed by the chance of leveraging him to sign LeBron, but he’s a legit NBA prospect. Showed out very well at the NBA combine and is WAY younger than Newton. Agree with it or not, that’s very important to the NBA.

Getting a number one pick under our belts would be great for the coaching staff and the program. And of course Donovan and #CTHSBB. I also think this could be very emotional for him if it happens. Does this go down Wednesday night? And I hope whoever picks him takes a flyer on Newton or Spencer down the order.

I believe his dad spoke about how initially he thought chatter about his son going Top 3 or 1st overall was fodder.

But after the pre-draft workouts and the need the Hawks have at improving their defense, we just might have a real chance at having our first number 1 pick. :)

What makes us even better, is that it couldn't happen to a more terrific kid. Donovan has his head squarely on his shoulders in, as far as I've seen, hasn't let his college success or his potential pro status go to his head, except in some funny/ dopey, 20-year-old ways. He's a good kid well on his way to becoming a good man.

As long as I'm posting this, let me complement Donovan's dad. He did one hell of a job as a single parent. I'm sure he is justifiably proud of the man his son is becoming.

Bronny James averaged 4.8ppg, shot 36.6% from field, 26.7% from 3, 67% from line and averaged 19 minutes per game for a team that went 15-18. Only the first part of first sentence is relevant, "unquestionably buoyed..."
To say he's 2yrs away from being 2 years away is as generous one could be about his NBA prospects.

Cannot possibly compare him to Newton. Newton may be better off not getting drafted so that he can tryout for the right team that would be suited to his strengths. Bronny needs to get drafted cuz no way he'd make a team on merits.

As a Celtics fan I would LOVE to take Bronny at 30 with no intention of playing him just to get LA or whoever to trade a boatload for him

Listen to the recent Vesceny Russillo podcast to learn what two smart analysts think of Bronny. They essentially said it would be unprecedented that someone that has produced as little as he has with his measurables gets drafted. They find it almost comical.

It’s obvious that Bronny James needed another year of college, Solomon Ball and Jaylin Stewart are better.

I would love to be his agent.

It's hard to really judge anything at the combine for Bronny.

He was terrible in the first scrimmage and shot 4-10 in the sejumpsuit. Too small a sample size either way.

Bronny was great in shooting drills, but that doesn't say much. Clingan and Bouknight don't miss either in shooting drills/warm ups.

We know he is a very good defender and athletic. He is undersized at SG. As a freshman he didn't put the ball in the hoop. He has nice form on his jumpshot.

Newton in the 50s.... The NBA comes down to can you guard your position (athleticism and body/size) and can you put the ball in the hoop. Age matters as a 23 year old isn't expected to improve a ton, while an 18 year old can have projections.

Newton does everything well and really well. Buy he isn't elite at any one skill. Except for the skill of winning. I think he will overachieve and prove the doubters wrong.

Bronny isn't getting picked to produce on a team. He's getting picked for marketing and maybe a dream that picking him will interest Lebron in playing for you

He was a highly ranked recruit and is a solid player, but his performance last year isn't why he's getting drafted this week. This isn't a secret and shouldn't be a surprise to anyone

It's the NBA. It's a business. No point arguing if he "deserves" it or not. It is what it is

Heard that pod. They tore him apart.
