CFJ will be getting starter's level minutes next year, and will be a high level player for the Friars.
I'm sure that's what Cooley told him this year too, but it certainly hasn't played out that way. He's got a long way to go before being a high level player in the Big East.

Agreed, he looks like a player now that he's getting minutes. Providence is stacked with veteran guards this season.

Wait “he needs to drive to be successful”? I agree wholeheartedly but explain how he was getting to the basket with a 6’9 kid playing zone in the middle making sure he didn’t? McDermott knew we were better with Newton getting to the basket and he did something about it. We did nothing to neutralize it.
So it comes down to Hurleys game coaching

Yeah, no. I like to see UConn alum play well... but no. This is a stupid take.

The kid has 13 games where he's scored 0 points. He has more PFs and TOs than assists or rebounds. He's taken 6 FTs all year. He's scored 5 total points in the top-25 matchups this year. His defensive rating is well below average.

He may not transfer...but nothing about his game, including the eye test by anyone with half a brain cell, indicates that he's going to become a solid player 8-10 PC games... he isn't good. I've watched 8PC has a few really solid pieces for the future. CFJ is not one of them.

Players who aren't good enough to get minutes transfer--this is usually a good thing for them.

Especially when they've been at UConn for a couple years. See: Akok, Brendan Adams, Gaffney.

Rahsool will end up being an okay player in the A10 eventually. CFJ might need to transfer to an A10 level program if he expects to ever get starter-level minutes.
Aren't good enough? But somehow he was good enough to "one day be on the wall" according to our coach.

Through 4 games in February he is 0/5 from the field and has scored 2 points. He also has 1 assist to go along with 3 turnovers and 3 fouls. Those kind of numbers sure scream high level Big East player.
