Kelis up 2 spots to #25 and Gandy down 2 spots to #75. Jasmine Davidson takes over top spot, Aaliyah Chavez moves down to #3

Biggest movers +/- and new entries:

It looks like they've also trimmed an inch or two from Kelis's height, Gandy too.

Looking further down, no mention of UConn interest in Tatianna Griffin yet which is kinda shocking. It's still early though.

Griffin is a tremendous talent as is Kaleena Smith, but it's going to become almost impossible to get the very top talent in Cali to leave because of the ridiculous amounts of $$ that the two LA schools can generate to buy them.

Wow, Yiech made some significant strides up the list. Good for her as she's been trained by two good programs in Canada, Capital Courts and Fort Erie. When I first saw her, she was very raw.

There is a "Savvy Swords" that plays at Long Island Lutheran? Geno needs to get to work.

Savannah Swords’ sister, Syla, plays for Michigan

Oh well. The dream dies in its infancy.

Thanks. I do vaguely recall the sister for some reason.

Just vaguely? ;). Syla has been the one who has garnered more attention between the two to date both by Canada Basketball and recruitment. Would things have been different had Savannah not had her injury? Maybe, but when I compare how both sisters have progressed through the Canada Basketball development stream, Syla has been further ahead for some time.

.-.
the "point" is Swords doesn't have UConn on her list........:(
It is what it is. Some fans had asked about it quite some time ago and no one could confirm if there was interest from either side. The Swords family have been pretty good at keeping things close to the vest.

i think 2025 is the weakest class in a while. No juju or Sarah strong this year imo.

After I posted, I realized that it was likely through your boosterism that I had heard of her before.

I confess that as much as I would like to pay more attention to UConn recruiting, the facts that the UConn staff keeps things rather tight-lipped while the Boneyard denizens are a tad garrulous when in comes to prospects (neither of which are bad things, btw) makes it difficult for me to find my comfort zone with recruiting.

Rightfully so. It’s an NCAA violation for UConn coaches to discuss recruits before they sign

I hear you, but that's a good thing in my opinion. At the same time, the Swords could have made things public on their own and they haven't.

Frankly, I find it refreshing as we don't need to know everything. Sometimes it's better not to have expectations as to who may or may not be part of the team.

I meant things like visits. You are able to track by social media follows and players claiming offers and while quite helpful (and something I appreciate), it is still a rather wide net.

But even with your diligent efforts, it seems (from a more casual observers point of view) that the commitments of Qadence Samuels, Kelis Fisher, and Gandy Maloe-Mamel were out of the blue. Blanca Quiñonez was sudden.

Hurley and company keep it tight-ish, but their general intent is a little easier to discern (I think they have opened a little to help Storrs Central, as well).

It really isn't a complaint. It is more of a statement that the interest required to be more than vaguely familiar with the various prospects is greater than I am willing to give for either side the UConn programs.

I applaud everyone that does have that degree of interesting and truly appreciate their knowledge -- especially when a player becomes more publicly interested in UConn or when the top players narrow their lists.

On the other hand, while I do appreciate the more tight-lipped recruiting approach (I think it is healthier), I also wish that women's basketball generated the level of interest that created the same pressure for information as we see on the men's side or with football.

Davidson is one of those UConn misses that keeps on hurting.
She looks like she's going to be a difference maker. Thought for sure Jazzy and Sarah would be the next up at UCONN.
With all of the NIL stuff taking place these days and seeing that we did not get one top 20 player for the 2025 class, I'm wondering if NIL was a factor.

Uh... UConn is the top NIL earning school in the entire sport. Men or women.

I didn't take it as a complaint. I was empathizing and giving my perspective.

I am not trying to derail this thread, however sharing something that I think none of us knew until the season was over. Paige's thumb injury last fall was surgically repaired. She was wearing a splint, however that detail wasn't shared.

Now, onto the topic at hand. When Evina, Lou, Dorka, and Kaitlyn were being recruited, there weren't splashes of photo shoots on social media. There was chatter, but nothing official until they signed. I'm old school on some stuff like this so I like how UConn handles it all.

Show me a link that verifies this statement.
I don't see UConn anywhere on this list or any others:

There are two types of "NIL" but only one of them is NIL (Name-Image-Likeness) as originally intended (that you can make money from the commercial use of your name, image of likeness). UConn women's basketball is right there with anyone with this type of NIL. The article is regarding direct cash payments to players.

You went from a definitive "top NIL earning school in the entire sport" to "right there with anyone". So this is your personal opinion with no verification, correct?

I don't want to go off tangent with this thread. But there is no verification for any of it. Only guesses.

Getting back on topic, there was some chatter regarding Chavez' average performance at the McD's game. Anyone see it?

Yes, and it wasn't surprising to me. When you play against kids that aren't at your level, you can dominate and pile up gaudy stats. When you step up into competition with athletes that are at your level, you blend in and become average. Now we'll see if she can separate herself and become really good at the college level. HS rankings only count for HS.
