Indiana coach Moren shoulda had Holmes miss that 2nd free throw! I was screaming at the screen miss it or Clark is gonna win this!
Never thought of that but it is 100% spot on….that was the call….good point my man

I did. Was clearly a travel. But also looked to me like a foul with body by Cinzano caused what would have been a travel. I was actually rooting for Iowa, so again no bias here. Announcers didn’t mention either of my observations, so maybe it didn’t happen?
Clark also traveled before she shot that last shot. She took three steps. Refs swallowed whistle on both plays.

Yeah. Every final 4 they show both of them. Every single year.
Along with Aliyah crying after the missed shot at Stanford.

Look, I’m as big a Gamecock fan as there is. I love Aliyah and to me she is one of the best 2-way players I’ve ever seen. I thought she deserved NPOY last year. Both girls are incredible basketball players. This year, in terms of individual performances, it’s the Caitlin Clark show. She’s got the big moments on her resume. That was an incredible shot yesterday. Congrats to them.

ESPN had a great schedule for WBB coverage. Add the College Game Day pre-game, you couldn't ask for a better Sunday of NCAAW coverage. This Indiana-Iowa match up ended up being as advertised. Loved it.

Charlie Crème just said during the LSU vs Mississippi State game that with Iowa’s win he’s moving UConn down to the 3 line. Man he just loves to knock UConn down whenever he has a chance. ,,
He works for ESPN, ESPN owns the SEC network, ESPN controls, $, the WCBB tournament. UCONN basically plays in a mid major conference, ESPN pushes the big guys.

Yes, that was a great shot by Clark, but - 2 HUGE coaching blunders in the last 2 seconds by Indiana cost them the game:
1. game is tied, Indiana at the line 1.4 seconds left in regulation. Instruction from the head coach should have been "if you make the first free throw, then miss the second off the rim. If we get the rebound, game over. If they get the rebound, good chance the clock runs down further or out". by making the second free throw, it game Iowa a chance to set up a play
2. It doesn't take a genius to know exactly what play Iowa is going to run. The defender on the high pick has to step out and keep Clark from easily running around the pick. Go ahead and leave Cinzano open, better to have her shoot an open 2 than Clark an open 3. This was a terrible job of planned defense by Indiana. Great shot by Clark though, still not easy hitting that shot under those circumstances so hats off to her.

There is literally no bigger draw for ESPN on the NCAA tournament — which it owns the broadcast rights to — than UConn.

When talking about a team recently Charlie said "I was right all along." He likes to be "right all along." In that regard, he can't quite quit Iowa. He had them in his top 4 preseason. He'll take every opportunity to move them closer to where he had them early on so he can say ...

Anyhow, the next step for Clark is the more challenging one: leading her team on a deep tournament run. As magical as yesterday was, this Iowa team has weaknesses that even superwoman Clark can't overcome. In the Big 10 tournament getting past Maryland will be very difficult. I would expect another match-up with Indiana to end differently. As for the NCAAT, no more 2nd round exits and they have to hope for a favorable bracket.

I think Iowa would be favored in a rematch with Maryland in the BTT semis. They missed a lot of open shots in that blowout loss.

Maryland just clobbered them by 28. Clark is special but I’d definitely put betting money on Maryland for that game.

True but ESPN owns among others the SEC network and promotes them. Also ESPN broadcasts the major sport football UConn not relevant there.

Come on now, UConn has been the face of WBB for decades now, partially in part to due to ESPN coverage. At one point if there was only 60 seconds of WBB coverage , UConn would get 45-50 of those seconds. This season is way below their standard and their two biggest media darlings have been hurt and sidelined for most of the year.

If you think ESPN has it out for UConn then only imagine what fans of other programs feel. Look at Indiana, they are the #2 team in the country and who I believed until recently had the front runner in NPOY Mackenzie Holmes but she got no media attention. Even the promo for college GameDay was all about Caitlin.

As for 3 seed prediction, I don't think it was as personal as some believe. UConn was on the lower half of the 2 seed rankings as it was and they have been struggling with some average teams lately. With Iowa winning against the #2 team it only makes sense they swap places with someone. If they win the Big East tournament they'll be back as a 2 seed for sure.

Both teams had offensive explosions against the other AT HOME.

A neutral site game would be interesting,

This is exactly what I'm thinking.

Was, now there is the SEC and ACC etworks owned by ESPN, the BTN network owned by ESPN rival Fox (BTW Indiana on there often). UConn in 2023 not financially connected to any of those. In 2023 ESPN has a financial stake not in UConn or the BE.

And yet one of the biggest names and most used names on ESPN today is Caitlin Clark. In recent years we have seen Paige, Azzi, Sabrina, Cameron Brink and more get tons of love and attention from the likes of ESPN. This network bias conspiracy theory does hold much weight.

Isn't BTN independent from Fox and they just recently agreed to broadcasting rights?

From Forbes
Big Ten Network (BTN) is an American sports network based in Chicago, Illinois. The channel is dedicated to coverage of collegiate sports sanctioned by the Big Ten Conference, including live and recorded event telecasts, news, analysis programs, and other content focusing on the conference's member schools. It is a joint venture between Fox Sports and the Big Ten, with Fox Corporation as 61% stakeholder and operating partner, and the Big Ten Conference owning a 39% stake.

Where does the mention of bias comes in. Who won national player of the year last year? Clark was as good last year.

And last year she got just as much coverage too. My point is that ESPN highlights players in conferences that they aren't associated with all the time. I believe outside of Boston and Reese I would argue the players that are being pushed the most are not in those conferences at all.
