I really was hoping Tennessee wouldn't hire Butch Jones. We need a new head coach. Badly.

@I would have liked seeing him here?I wonder about Bob Diaco too? From my sisters town in NJ!!Great NY/NJ area recruiter and young and coming future HC!!

Leaving aside a debate about ticket draw between nebraska and byu ( my guess is that nebraska is a much, much bigger ticket draw), Nebraska fans travel as well as any fanbase in the nation. And it really isn't close between nebraska and byu.

BYU is a poor man's notre dame. Nebraska is...well..Nebraska.

]BYU is a bigger ticket draw then Nebraska, and if Boise lags behind Nebraska it isn't by much. BYU and Boise are big wins for Warde.

hahaha it took me four times of looking at this thread before i finally realized that this is Notre Dame's stadium and not Nebraska's.

Uconn has recently announced some decent OOC opponents in BYU and Boise. I think everything that has been communicated suggests the strategy going forward is to continue on that path.

Every time another nonP5 school farts doesn't mean that it creates a metric from which WM should be measured and deemed failing simply because Uconn hasn't announced the same press review.
If you are going to be rational on a message board......you just don't get it....WM is the devil!!! Everything he does is not good enough!!! Everything he doesn't do isn't good enough. Now you understand how it works around here.

With all due respect Marty it's about getting your foot in the door. yes, 12 years forward is ridiculous. But Cincy is creating perception of being big time by doing this. WM needs to do the same thing, and if he can get games in a quicker time frame all the better. A good 2014 road/neutral at a P5 (hello BC at Fenway) would be a start. WM also should be touting the games in the bag with Tennessee, etc. at the AAC media confab.

Just don't want to let an opportunity like the 7-game ND series slip through the fingers again because of a few poo-pooing nabobs.
so Uconn has Michigan this year, 1 - 1 with Tenn coming up, BYU and Boise just scheduled, and a very clear communication about beefing up the OOC schedule. And I think Virginia is out there as well.

I'm sorry, what's your point again?

Ruskin, the problem with a neutral site game at Fenway against BC is that it's against BC.

Kind of a douchey finish there bro. If you a think a handful -- I repeat HANDFUL -- of scheduled OOC games in this decade mean that UConn can rest easy and can you can beat your internet chest , you are sadly mistaken. Now is the time to jump a la Cincinnati. Go here, look at the P5s OOC schedules for rest of this decade, and you'll see there aren't a lot of openings. That's why Warde makes 450K-plus a year.

BTW, while BYU and Boise are good gets, and will be helpful to strength of schedule, they aren't P5 teams.

Uconn has Michigan this year, a tenn series coming up along with byu, Boise, and Virginia. Uconn has also stated a new path in beefing up the OOC schedule. The school has told you what they are trying to do, is actually doing it, and yet people like you still have issues because some other school just got some press.

Douchey or not, I don't get your point.

Maybe if you further explain your point by providing more examples of the challenges uconn faces in getting these games I will see your point of view. That or if I smoke a j.
Btw, that's douchey....

If we had the HS talent in our backyard that Cincy has there would be far more schools (especially those with top shelf names and tradition, located in sparse recruiting territory) willing to schedule a home and home series or two with us.

Let me break it down for you. Warde has been AD since January 2012 and has ONLY scheduled 2 OOC opponents, BYU and Boise. Good gets, but only 2. Hathaway, amazingly, gets credit for Maryland, Michigan, Tennessee and part, of it not all, Virginia, which he initiated. Warde does get credit for keeping Michigan game at Rent and keeping Va. on schedule. Something happened to a deal with Iowa, which appeared and then disappeared both under mysterious circumstances.

If Warde/UConn was as bullish on the future schedule as you seem to be, trying finding "future football schedule" at UConnHuskies.com. No separate link as at most FBS schedules - it is mentioned in the spring prospectus.

The Iowa series was never going to happen. As a favor to his alma mater, Ferentz allowed us to announce a home and home series (well in the future) with a very high profile B-10 school. This gave us a bit of credibility while attempting to negotiate with other major programs while transitioning. Once we got within shouting distance of the scheduled games (and also built a bit of our own credibility) the game was silently (to not garner any attention) dropped from future schedule publications.
