Yeah, I'm sure they're thrilled.

"Boy, I just can't wait for that home game vs. Nebraska TWELVE years from now! Better figure out what we want to bring to the tailgate soon!"

What frosts me is that WM stated last fall that he would be working on football future scheduling & would announce some future opponents in the summer. So far, all we've heard is Boise,BYU?, & crickets.

Nebraska played at Wake Forest a few years ago. They would play at Nippert. Nebraska doesn't have an attendance complex
like some schoools.

nebraska's schedules are filled out until around then already with their "big" name opponents if you look on the fbs schedules website. All I meant from this thread was that its not impossible to schedule P5 teams in the AAC. And as long as the buyout is a substantial figure, what is to stop this game from ever being played @ Nippert? Isn't this nearly identical to the UConn/Michigan series?

Impressive. Scheduling a home game 12 years out, 5 years after traveling to Nebraska....odds of seeing Nebraska at Cincy?

I'm not sure if you've been keeping up with the 2025 recruiting class, but I'm sure this will be a great selling point for Cinci!

By 2025 scheduling won't matter. The SEC will consist of 24 teams and the NCAA will have changed their name to the SECAA and all playoff games will consist of the top 8 SEC teams.

ND will be an SEC member for football and will champion the cause of fairness, ethics and reasonable secondary infractions for all SEC team members.

UCONN future schedule is much more impressive than Cincy. We have Tenn., Vir., Boise St, BYU and we are finishing up this year with MD, Mich..

Uconn has recently announced some decent OOC opponents in BYU and Boise. I think everything that has been communicated suggests the strategy going forward is to continue on that path.

Every time another nonP5 school farts doesn't mean that it creates a metric from which WM should be measured and deemed failing simply because Uconn hasn't announced the same press review.

I really was hoping Tennessee wouldn't hire Butch Jones. We need a new head coach. Badly.

never said BYU and Boise weren't good OOC opponents, but neither of them are the national brand/draw that a team like Nebraska is. Tennessee is a good start but it wasn't scheduled by WM if I remember correctly. I'm a WM supporter but I am allowed to criticize/make observations, as is everyone else on here. Its what a message board is for. UConn should be setting itself up for these future types of games NOW because you don't know what the landscape will be in 10 years. Will we be in the B1G playing a team like Nebraska regularly or will we still be in the American and having a harder time than right now scheduling BCS/P5 teams to come to the rent?

Cincinnati and Nebraska recently announced a home and home for basketball too that starts at Cincy this year with a return trip to Neb next year, I would assume that has something to do with this agreement for football. I'd love to see UConn offer a home and home with Nebraska basketball in exchange for a home and home in football. Absolutely worth it IMO. Plus Nebraska fans (like Michigan fans) travel extremely well and will flood that stadium, just like Michigan fans will invade the Rent this fall.

The main point I was getting at here is that if Cincy can announce things like this (and bring in a coach like Tuberville) than it is not impossible for UConn to be doing it too. And I believe it will be easier for UConn to schedule these games now, 10 years in advance, than it will be 6 years into the American Athletic Conference.

I also noticed Cincy is playing at Michigan in 2017 with no return game at Nippert or Paul Brown Stadium, accompanied by a home and home deal for basketball.

interesting deal there. Don't know how I feel about it to be completely honest. On the one hand thats a game that will probably be on national TV and with the lower conference revenue the 1.2 mil is a huge bonus, but no football return game and no guarantee that Michigan will still be a good basketball team in 2018 is tough.

I thought my comment was pretty clear.
Uconn and WM have said they would beef up the OOC schedule and have done so. Why does cincy scheduling Nebraska suggest wm should get on it? Do you think he's not?

BYU is a bigger ticket draw then Nebraska, and if Boise lags behind Nebraska it isn't by much. BYU and Boise are big wins for Warde.

I don't think any of us would trade the BYU or Boise game next year for a Nebraska game in 10 years. Heck in 10 years Nebraska might be a conference game.

If Warde announced this same deal with Nebraska everyone would be knocking him due to the long wait for the return game.

Leaving aside a debate about ticket draw between nebraska and byu ( my guess is that nebraska is a much, much bigger ticket draw), Nebraska fans travel as well as any fanbase in the nation. And it really isn't close between nebraska and byu.

BYU is a poor man's notre dame. Nebraska is...well..Nebraska.

BYU is not a bigger ticket draw than Nebraska and its not really close.

As for the other point, I wouldn't trade Boise and BYU for Nebraska in ten years but I would like to see us making deals with teams like them for future years IN ADDITION to BYU and Boise. For instance a team like Michigan State would be a perfect target for us in the OOC. Home and home for something like 2018 and 2022. Would you really be upset over that?

Did you think Butch Jones would leave Cinci for UConn?

With all due respect Marty it's about getting your foot in the door. yes, 12 years forward is ridiculous. But Cincy is creating perception of being big time by doing this. WM needs to do the same thing, and if he can get games in a quicker time frame all the better. A good 2014 road/neutral at a P5 (hello BC at Fenway) would be a start. WM also should be touting the games in the bag with Tennessee, etc. at the AAC media confab.

Just don't want to let an opportunity like the 7-game ND series slip through the fingers again because of a few poo-pooing nabobs.
