never said BYU and Boise weren't good OOC opponents, but neither of them are the national brand/draw that a team like Nebraska is. Tennessee is a good start but it wasn't scheduled by WM if I remember correctly. I'm a WM supporter but I am allowed to criticize/make observations, as is everyone else on here. Its what a message board is for. UConn should be setting itself up for these future types of games NOW because you don't know what the landscape will be in 10 years. Will we be in the B1G playing a team like Nebraska regularly or will we still be in the American and having a harder time than right now scheduling BCS/P5 teams to come to the rent?
Cincinnati and Nebraska recently announced a home and home for basketball too that starts at Cincy this year with a return trip to Neb next year, I would assume that has something to do with this agreement for football. I'd love to see UConn offer a home and home with Nebraska basketball in exchange for a home and home in football. Absolutely worth it IMO. Plus Nebraska fans (like Michigan fans) travel extremely well and will flood that stadium, just like Michigan fans will invade the Rent this fall.
The main point I was getting at here is that if Cincy can announce things like this (and bring in a coach like Tuberville) than it is not impossible for UConn to be doing it too. And I believe it will be easier for UConn to schedule these games now, 10 years in advance, than it will be 6 years into the American Athletic Conference.
