So happy for her - it must have been incredibly demoralizing for her to get injured just after graduating college and effectively missing 1+ pro years.

Why wasn't she picked up by the new WNBA team the Valkyries? Or is she a total free agent and available to sign with anyone? I really hope she finds a spot to spread her wings this coming season!!

Given the planned expansion of the WNBA (one new team next year and two in 2026), there will be many roster spots opening up to players who have not been in the league. Both Christyn and Evina should have opportunities as a result of that.

The Phoenix Mercury waived Christyn Williams on May 11, 2024.
No team had to protect her, as she had not finished a regular season with a franchise.
But she will be a free agent, so Golden State (or another WNBA team) can sign her when free agency opens in 2025.
