Don't count on it...but I thought the blog from John Altavilla was an interesting read. Even though I am 99.9% sure UConn will come out victorious tonight, I am a tad anxious thinking about tonight's game. Hence, why not talk about something else related to UConn? Enjoy.... http://courantblogs.com/uconn-women/chris-dailey-on-the-chance-of-leaving-uconn/ .

Chris Dailey has been by Geno Auriemma’s side for his entire UConn coaching career. And everytime a legitimate head coaching position comes up, her name is invariably connected with it. But she’s still in Storrs.
Sunday she said she’s not leaving UConn to become the next coach at Providence, either. Phil Seymore was not retained after a first-round loss in the Big East tournament and the Friars are apparently on a nationwide search to find a replacement.
A report last week in an Attleboro, Mass., newspaper listed Dailey and Hartford coach Jen Rizzotti as likely targets.
“Really,” Dailey said. “Well, that’s why I don’t read the newspaper. That is not a place I would be interested in.”
Dailey said she hasn’t give up on the idea of being a head coach, but the situation needs to be right.
“Everything depends….you would be crazy to say never say never. You need to find your spot, go someplace where you feel it will be possible to reach your goals and be happy. I put a premium on that and the older you get the more important it becomes. When you are younger, you are more willing to go anywhere. But the more time you spend in the game, the more you know, the more you understand what it takes, on a realistic level [to succeed].”

I doubt CD ever leaves at this point. Maybe after the Taurasi NCs, but she's going to be 52 this year. Just don't see it. She's comfortable at UConn, and I think there are some issues she doesn't have to deal with in her current role that she would as another program's HC. It's nice to have Geno to kick around.

If she ever did leave, I seriously doubt it'd be for a Big East job.

One thing is for sure. Geno is a great coach, but there was an incredible string of good luck that led to the 1995 championship. The first such piece of good luck was CD coming aboard as a 25 year old assistant and turning out to be a more perfect fit than Geno could have dared hope for.

I think Tennessee or Rutgers are both brilliant!

There is no way she ends up at Tennessee. Rutgers I could sort of see, but I don't think she'd want to share a league with Geno.

Wouldn't Stringer have to step down first? She won't do that with the sinecure she has at Rutgers. If the Board of Governors wants to buy out CVS's contract at Rutgers, they'd probably have to sell off the bottom half of New Jersey to get the funds.

If memory serves she has one more year on her contract.

Let's see--you have Breanna Stewart coming in, and you absolutely love the kid and her game. What other team is going to give you a better situation than that? The Miami Heat?

I'm betting CD will stay as long as Geno does.
HOWEVER,
CD at Tennessee would be soooo interesting. They have a great tradition - they're committed to WCBB and she would be great. There's NOTHING about CD that wouldn't fit.
Frankly, it would be one of the few worthy jobs but, can you imagine the exploding of heads that would occur?

Too heretical to even contemplate.

CD has a chance to coach Breanna Stewart for the next four years.

She's not going anywhere.

Say what you will about the UT/UCONN rivalry but, this is one of the very few jobs that could "fill her up" with every challenge appropriate to her.
PS: Someone earlier speculated, Rutgers. I know CD is a proud alum but, IIRC, she had a shot at the job when CVS was hired. That was probably their only bite-at-the-apple.

The thought of CD leaving to Coach somewhere else makes me SICK!:eek: It had never crossed my mind!
After reading the article this morning I was relieved. Now getting stressed again:rolleyes: I hope my interpretation was correct! I did not see VS leaving. I also thought she was much older than 52???

The right situation CD is speaking of is if Geno leaves and asks her along to join him.

She was the senior captain of Rutgers's AIAW-winning team in 1982, which would mean she was born in 1960.

Texas as a LOT of money to throw at someone. If they were to call her I cannot imagine her not at least meeting with them. Hey, if nothing else, use it as an excuse to go to Austin for some good TexMex food...and eat a Whataburger.

I thought the post that I was referring to re age was Vivian being 52! I am sorry for not making it clearer that it was
V Singer that I was referring.

Ok well in that case, I totally understand what you mean! I would have guessed she was older too!
