CD is not leaving with B. Stewart and M. Tuck coming on board. She would have to be nuts!

Say what you will about the UT/UCONN rivalry but, this is one of the very few jobs that could "fill her up" with every challenge appropriate to her.
PS: Someone earlier speculated, Rutgers. I know CD is a proud alum but, IIRC, she had a shot at the job when CVS was hired. That was probably their only bite-at-the-apple.
You recall correctly. Chris was interested in the RU head coaching job when they hired Vivian. Vivian has three more years on her contract, so unless she chooses to resign, which is unlikely, RU wouldn't be an option. When the job does open up, however, I would be surprised if there wasn't mutual consideration for Chris to take over. She is an alum with excellent coaching credentials.

If she waits until UCONN does not have top talent in a uniform before she would consider leaving, then she will never leave. Those two will be at UCONN four years, presumably...she could have her own program for many more than that.

The real question is, is she happy where she is and would money make her happier? I am guessing that she is absolutely happy at UCONN.

What could be better than what she has? Such a wonderful program, such chemistry, such brilliant players...and, of course, (ta-da) US!!

CD has a chance to coach Breanna Stewart for the next four years.

She's not going anywhere.
And she is already enjoying getting jabs in at Brianna...after her triple-double, CD asked her if any of the rebounds were from her own shots, BECAUSE THOSE DON'T COUNT!!!

I, too, immediately thought Tennessee. Where else could she walk on to a job and be championship ready? She could walk into a program that can recruit and not miss a beat. She would restore the glory days to TN. Talk about embracing one of the greatest rivalries in WBB.

She isn't nuts. From John A's blog:

I must admit, I have never heard the coaches speak of another recruit the way they do about Breanna. I have never seen her play, so I just follow their lead. But now I know I can’t wait to see her play, especially after the way UConn associate coach Chris Dailey spoke of her Sunday in Bridgeport.

“I am probably more impressed with Breanna as a person than a player – and she is a tremendous player,” Dailey said. “She is the totally likeable kid. I love her sense of humor. I love everything about her. And that’s not even considering one thing about her on the basketball court. She is just going to be a lot of fun to be around.

“As for her basketball skill, I’m not sure we’ve ever had anyone who can do all the things she can do. She has a lot of room to improve; which is actually kind of scary when you think of all the numbers she has already compiled.
“Her build (6-3) is different. Everything about her is different. She’s like a freak of nature, in terms of her athletic ability at this time. We’ve never had anyone her size that had the skills or a guard and a post player and is athletic as she is. She has so much potential.

“She is not the second coming, we will not anoint her Player of the Year before she even gets here. She has a lot of work to do and some kids are more ready than others. But the excitement you hear is just about what you can envision for her.
“She is such a hard worker. And depending on how she handles being at school, being on the team, she just has so much upside. What’s great about her is, she will do whatever it is we ask her to do and she wants to do it, as does Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck [who will come to UConn with Stewart]. Their personalities will provide a great infusion for our team.

“But what likely excites us the most about Breanna is her attitude, her personality, her knack for fitting and having fun.

C'mon. at the end of her half time interview she would get to say "Back to you Jim Bob". What more could she want?

Don't think Nashville can match Manhattan shopping trips.

I get a feel good feeling whenever I think about Breanna arriving on campus in June.

I get an even better feeling whenever I think about Moriah arriving on campus in June.

I get an absolutely terrific feeling whenever I think about Morgan arriving on campus in June.

And I get almost giddy whenever I think about all three of them being together, in summer school and in the gym, in June.

Peace,

Don't think Nashville can match Manhattan shopping trips.

But to quote a certain candidate for high office, she could probably learn to say "Y'all" and to like grits.

I took a cross-country drive from CT about 10 years ago with one of my sons to get his car back to LA where he lives. We did the southern route because another of my sons then lived in Blacksburg, VA. So we decided to go through Knoxville on our way west afterward, partly because I have a friend there, and drive around the UT campus. We have a great photo of a sign that says "Swine Delivery Entrance". I thought from the outside that their football stadium was ugly.

Can't say too much about Nashville because my son's car had a problem we had to take care of so most of our Nashville plans were scrubbed. Before the car problems we played golf nearby, toured the Andrew Jackson estate (Hermitage)walked around the lobby of the new Grand Ol' Opry (didn't convert me into a country music fan) and drove what seemed like miles around the humungous Opryland Hotel and the abutting mall, which CD might like even though it sure ain't Manhattan.

....CD at Tennessee would be soooo interesting. They have a great tradition... There's NOTHING about CD that wouldn't fit...

-Nothing, other than being instrumental in ending their preeminent position.
-Seems like speculating if Scipio Africanus the Younger plans to run for mayor of Carthage,… after burning it, crushing its stones, and salting its soil

In my mind, inheriting a championship ready team would be the worst scenario for any new coach. There would be only one way to go from there, and that is down.
Whether UT can recruit without Pat Summitt is yet to be seen. So far, the evidence leans to no, given recruit Kaela Davis’ hedging. Without Pat, UT is “what have you done for me lately”. Just look at the fans trashing of the coaches, players, potential head coach candidates that are not UT born & bred, or not female. Nothing short of a Pat Summitt clone will suffice, as long as that clone wins from day 1.
Regarding restoring the glory days, well, that’s just wishful thinking. I’d say the Longhorns thought Gail Gostenkors would do the same for Texas. Would CD want to put herself in that type of situation? I don’t think so. Besides, Glory will be gone next year along with the entire year end starting five. To me, they are not looking like final 4 material next year.
With CD at the helm in TN, from a Uconn standpoint, the rivalry would not be embraced. How could we root against CD? It would be like watching your mother-in-law drive off a cliff in your brand new Mercedes. Mixed emotions.
Didn’t Pat kill the rivalry by taking her ball and going home? Will UT ever think Uconn didn’t do something wrong? Will Uconn ever not think Pat did it because UT didn’t want to get beat every year for the next four years? Not the stuff rivalries thrive on.
I doubt that CD will leave Uconn, but if she does, I’m quite certain it won’t be to say, “Back to y’all.”

I don't see CD going back to Rutgers except to beat them with her Huskies.
IIRC, she was rudely treated by the fans during her induction into their Hall of Fame, and has been rather disgusted by their haranguing of Nonna Auriemma.
Methinks the bloom is off that rose, except as a memory of her time there as a player and team captain.

CVS will stay until she retires. I don't see them not extending her contract.

Well that will only be because of political correctness if that happens. She has frankly ... or frankly she has...never know where the grammarians are waiting to strike... spent more time padding and promoting her self image over the last 4 years than she has coaching or coaching to affect to produce the necessary effect on her players.

Would it be asking too much for those who feel a need to bash coach S to do it on a thread that is somewhat remotely associated with her?

It would be great for woman's college BB if Chris went to Tennessee, eventually restore some semblance parity.
