Chol Machot?

You’re right. My point was just that I think he has more upside than being Samson Johnson Jr. Hard to imagine Hurley would play him away from the basket and give him the green light from three but the kid has some skill. Hell of a defensive player but he brings more to the table than blocks and dunks.
From just this highlight reel he looks to have more ability and skills than SJ. Not sure how to explain it but SJ as athletic as he was just didnt move like a basketball player. He seemed like a tall kid with athleticism who was playing basketball. This kid looks and moves like a basketball player.

Damn, this kid is nice. Wasn't expecting that when I click on the video. I thought he'd be extremely raw, but he's a versatile two way big with a high upside in the right situation. Bring him home.

the more I watched I was extremely impressed with his coordination, quickness, his handle for a player that long, his jumpshot and of course the catch and slam which we all missed seeing this past season after Samson departed.
This! 1000% this. I was prepared to be lukewarm at best but likely underwhelmed but the more i watched i was honestly impressed. Yeah its a highlight video but the things hes doing on the court arent usually things you see from a guy that size with that thin build. He is impressive and i would not hate if he were the back up this season. Im still hoping for Thiam or Diop but this kid would be a nice get if those guys dont work out. Even if we got one of thoses guys i wouldnt hate having him as part of a 3 big rotation at the 4,5 spots.

Small sample size. If he made one more it would have made him a 32%shooter from three. His form and release look good. I know it was a highlight reel but I liked the midrange and turn around fade away jumpsuits as well. He’s not just a dunk machine.
I’m ok with a dunk machine and shot blocker. We need to play above the rim.

Wasn’t this guy like the #1 player in the class at one point as like a 7ft 8th grader or something? I feel like I remember his name being thrown around years ago before the rest of then universe caught up.

Has quick feet/bounce for a 7-footer. Lob threat. Enthusiastic dunker. Mismatch nightmare vs less athletic bigs. Because he has some face-the basket talent- jumper- could even see him also getting a few minutes at PF if the matchups dictated his play style .Defensively he is a shot-blocking machine. Hope the Zoom call convinces both parties for an on-campus visit.

Very impressive. Moves great, floor intelligence looks good. A big lineup with him at the 4, the Dookie at the 3 and Mullins at 2 would be a great option(Did I just say double bigs?). At the very least he's be entertaining and electric on the floor.

It would be really disappointing if this guy is available and we end up with Giltay from Stanford lol

IF... and it is a big IF... but if the money is good enough, why wouldn't this kid (or any player) want to come to UConn right now?

Aside from NIL, we have great things to offer this guy: plenty of minutes, the chance to win a title, a track record of developing big guys and putting them in the NBA.

Again, if the money is right, I don't see why this guy wouldn't want to set up a visit. Bring him to the basketball capital of the world and seal the deal Dan.

The internet says he’s Manute Bol’s kid. Anyone know if that’s true? I’d take him for sure, but temper expectations, people. Ajou Ajou Deng, Ater Majok, Akok Akok … our track record with Sudanese kids is a lot of hype with disappointing results.

No idea where you're seeing that. It's easy to search Manute Bol's sons. They share his last name.

Well, we can see him play on film, so I’m pretty confident he can be of value. He can do a lot of things and looks good doing it. Most impressive is a steal and coast to coast dunk while looking completely comfortable with his dribble. Add that to the ally oops, a smooth 3 pointer and a bunch of shot blocks and you’ve at least got a good backup. I could see him playing a lot here. He’s the UConn prototype.

He's ranked #147 in the transfer portal. It doesn't seem possible Hurley never planned for a second center who would split time with Hines. Without it we aren't a threat to win a championship.
I think I saw that rank. But more specifically the #14 Center in the portal.

This guy was battling the likes of Stoneybrook all year and has a negative offensive BPR, which is hard to do. Couple that with the physicality of the Big East with his stature and I think we can do better even at backup.
