I'm holding out hope but Samson is a senior and Tarris is a junior. A lot of these fouls seem like things you'd expect to be ironed out of an upperclassman's game by now.
Samson is not a true 5. He is 6'10" with a 7'5" wingspan and 205lbs. Very light and gets pushed around. Tarris is solid 6'10" , 270lbs. And is is still learning Hurley's system. Donavan was 7'2" with a 7'7" wingspan, 280lbs. To put things in perspective. The team is still.learning and coach Hurley needs to make a decision on Reed starting. Johnson seems best comming off the bench. In Hurley we trust....

Not good enough. Defense isn‘t good enough, not tough enough on boards, offense stagnates and we settle for deep 3s. Lots to work on. Tomorrow we may play a team that’s better than the two we just lost to. Maybe Hurley should have shut up about “respect” and scheduled some real teams.
We got at least 40% of our starting lineup wrong.

Nowell deserves minutes.

McNeeley is tremendous.

Somebody on here said in the summer we needed another 6'8 or 6'9 240 pound power forward reserve. Could have used another beefy body today.

Our 3 point defense makes these teams look like Steph Curry and the Warriors.

Need Mahaney or Ross to become consistent high level players. Ross needs reps to move down the learning curve. Mahaney is still learning how to fit in. He's a liability on defense, unfortunately. They've both shown flashes against inferior competition, but have been no-shows in Maui.
I believe it was me who made the comment we need a Karl Malone mailman type. People poo pood that by saying the game isn’t like that anymore, that we need stretch 4s. So how’s that working for us now?

Hurley needs to get Nowell into the rotation and stick with it. 15 minutes a game. He is good enough and is the future. By the end of the season we will be better for it.

There is no Clingan or Castle on this team. I am sure we will score a lot of points this season but there is no way this group will be any where close to last year's team defensively.
The team REALLY misses Clingan's defense.

While Diarra is a gritty defender and tough as nails, he shouldn't be taking the final win/lose shot. He's only shooting 17% from three on the season. I think I heard the announcers say he was 3-15 from three coming into the game. Gotta be Karaban catching/not passing in.

The foul shooting discrepancy was earned. Defense not final four level at this time. It may not get there. UCONN is still a formidable opponent and will be fine. This may be one of those years when the Women's team goes further than the men.
I don’t agree, the calls were not consistent. 68 to 37 is foul shot attempts difference the last 2 games and we lost by a total of 3 points.

Watched hours later. Didn't know the result. Is the offense now just chucking up 3's? Yes, probably because of Hurley's antics, the last 2 have been 5 on 8 games. But, the foul discrepancy isn't helped by failing to take the ball to the hole.

McNeeley, Ball and Diarra carried the load today. Ball continued making big time shots, McNeeley is a gamer even when hurt and a shooter, Diarra’s defense, assists and shooting were big the second half.

Our 3 point defense needs work. The players can’t seem to identify and find the shooters. Too much getting caught in between. With fouls so lopsided our defensive aggressiveness broke down the second half and Colorodo got good shots that won the game.

Hurley made one starting lineup change (Diarra) but he needs to make another (Reed).

McNeeley outplayed the 3 officials in the first half scoring 16 points, despite them giving Colorado 15 more foul shoots. Newell also stood out in first half with 4 assists and Stewart looked really good, as he did yesterday. Unfortunately, McNeeley got injured and is on the locker room and we miss his shooting in the second half.

While we committed more dumb fouls than yesterday, a 19-4 first half shot discrepancy is totally ridiculous. The Maui Tournament got sub par officials this year. It is an embarrassment. Five UConn players had 2 first half fouls or more. We were saved by Colorido only shooting 63% from line in first half.

Karaban needs to be more assertive and take charge more. But, that doesn’t mean taking 30 foot shots when he’s not on. He needs to cut and get the ball off those cuts.
Diarra is the go to guy in crunch time? Why is he taking the final shot?

Yeah, some of this is on style of play, not attacking the rim, but the calls were not balanced. Fouls against us were let go and phantom fouls that were actually good D were called fouls on us.

The beauty of early season is sample sizes are small and stats shift wildly. After today, Hass now is shooting 31.5%

Looks like the same could be said of Michigan State's 3 point defense.

No consolation for us, but Memphis beat them by a bigger point spread (8) than they beat us. Maybe Memphis is for real after all

Even unranked Dayton took NC to the mat in a close game they should have won. And so far, Dayton is ahead of #5 Iowa State.

Either way, the 7 vs. 8 games is going to be a bear.

Lots of work needs to be successfully done to accomplish that.
As we know, all you have to do is get in the tournament and anything can happen over six games

But it's going to be a tougher road this season

I can't believe I'm seeing some of the oldest BY heads throwing in the towel. You'll be back, but we saw your act. I hope this team wins it all more than the last 2. We are showing up real weak as a fan base.

Tarris got 2 years to go here.. I feel like his physicality will be a boon for us during big east play.. I see him gettin better and better as the season goes along.. in terms of Samson.. he always has been foul prone but definitely agree an upperclassman has to have more awareness and has to understand how the game is being called

That guy basically made an unbelievable shot to go ahead. The defense was good on that he flung it up there
Defense was decent. He got a half step on McNeeley in order to get that shot up. He did a little fake left and got the step. McNeeley recovered good and forced him into a tougher shot but still. Good man defense doesn’t let him get by you.
