True he could use some better sell techniques but he often gets fouled and no whistle by the Big East officials, who have been a disaster this season under a very weak commissioner. When Sanogo misses a post shot, there is no one in the zip code to rebound without a Double Big.

Hawkins, Sanogo, Clingan, Jackson and Karaban are our 5 best players and it is a no brainer they should be our starting line-up. Time is running out for our coaching staff to recognize this. How much more evidence do they need that the current approach is not working?

Having said that, I liked Diarra game tonight. He can break the defense down off the dribble, but needs to improve his FT %.

But where did our ball movement go? And there’s a big price to pay without having a double big for the rebound at the end,

I'm all for this Chief. The starting lineup you outline is clear as day. Some posters here don't get it.

And can't agree with you more on the refs. It's gotten to a point where I'm fine being that guy to "blame" the refs. It's absolutely outrageous. There's gotta be some more good objective data out there that corroborates this.

Unforced stepping out of bounds relates to a lack of game focus and awareness. Chief calling it what it is. Guys got to get their minds in the game.

Newton, Calcaterra, Alleyne, Diarra are equally unplayable for at least half of the time they’re out there. There’s no positional substitutions that are working. Play the best 5 and see if it works. If not, go back to whatever it is we’re doing now

Gotta drive the ball to draw fouls to go to the FT line…everyone on this team is afraid of contact and refuses to do this except 1-3 times a game when, would you believe it or not, good things typically happen

The thing that the team cannot control is the luxury of relying on their best players of Jackson, Hawkins and Sanogo to stop the momentum of the opponent and to make the critical plays that have to be made when the games tighten up and at crunch time.

This has been exposed in all of their losses. The opponents best players are stepping up and making plays. Our best players have lacked the ability to consistently execute the offense and defense when needed.

All of the remaining options around different line ups, defensive strategies and forcing the officials to call more fouls is secondary and more peripheral.

Our best players have to make plays and be trusted to execute at a high level. This is not happening and they will need to learn. Unfortunately this learning process cannot be rushed and has to occur naturally. Hawkins is not there yet. Jackson is in a new role still learning. Sanogo has never really demonstrated the ability to close out competitive games consistently. It starts and ends with these 3 guys. There is no other way I can put it. They were punched in the mouth several times in the second half and failed to respond adequately on the road. The Big East smells blood. We are still waiting for our Huskies to respond.

It's like they took sleeping pills at the half or the speech from the coaches was, "we got this. Go into full cruise control boys."
