Those two teams also had supremely athletic 6'6 guys (Jackson and Castle, respectively) who were great rebounders. Helped offset the size/strength deficiency with Alex.

I get that. I was the same way, and that's part of the point. Karaban is the type that will try to run through a brick wall if it means helping the team. Once he dove on the floor, but a few times he went down from contact and looked tired and jelly-legged. There's a lot of season left and sometimes , if you have a chance to buy him 2-3 minutes with Stewart, who played well last night, I think it would help AK and the team.

They were a lot of guys on the floor. At one point there were three UConn guys in a pile.

While is fair to point to consecutive minutes on the court as wearing a guy down. Our games have lots of commercial breaks along with the normal stoppages that apply to every game like the under 8. There are very rarely long stretches of continuous play. I do agree that Stewart should have gotten a few more minutes in the second half, he played well. Quietly, he was our second leading rebounder and the only one with multiple offensive rebounds.

I think Mullins even landed butt first on a Florida's player chest during one exchange. I'm trying to remember if that's the play where he tripped over Reed.

I once played in a Westchester Rec league and for the last 3-4 minutes of the game it was myself and one other guys versus 5. We lost, even with a tenacious 2 man zone.

We literally have three D1 point guards on our coaching staff. It is beyond baffling to me that none of them have been able to design or execute basic inbounds plays or press breaks.
 
absolutely shocked chief didnt complain about the reffing/FT disparity and call for the commissioner to be fired.
 
Our fouls tell a different story. The Big should not be between the hedge spot abf

I hate to break the news but you need more muscle than we have to consistently outrebound teams. And how much more evidence do you need that the high hedge leads to foul trouble/early in the foul
Penalty due to unfavorable mismatches and guys attempting to recover from 25 feet out being inevitably a step behind the play.

the high hedge worked extremely well last night to prevent the ball handler from penetrating. bilas called it out several times. i dont think reed was called for a foul when he was hedging and he was back in the paint by the time a shot went up because florida had to swing the ball back around. that wasnt the reason we gave up so many offensive rebounds. most were a result of a help defender leaving his man and not boxing out

Again you missed the point. For the Kansas game, I said when we are in a tough road environment having John Gaffney reffing isn’t balancing the equation. There a reason Home and Home non conference series have that balancing yet for us John Gaffney is like adding 2,500 000 opposing fans. You can root this commissioner on but she was a failure in the WNBA and be now. How many Big East teams made the tournament last season?

How do you explain why at one point in the first half FL had 15 foul shot attempts to our 1. And if you don’t think Reed’s fouls are an issue I have some swampland to sell you. Not all fouls caused by the high hedge happen 25 feet away from the basket - many happen in the messy chain reaction recovering from it.

because we foul a lot on D and take a bunch of jump shots on O. we dont have any Gs/wings that attack the basket and seek out contact (i was hopin silas would) and Reed is our only legit low post player. he does get foul calls.

In another 6 games or so Mullins will start taking charges and become a plus defender without fouling. He was thrown to the wolves in terms of his initial playing time and I have no doubt he will be a star.

My point is if you don’t overextend forward, you don’t have to overextend the drop coverage

Double bigs would ruin the continuous motion of our offense which totally wears out opponents. How do you think Reibe would move playing the 4?
