Quite frankly, Jim would take the player out quickly, but he usually reinserted him fairly soon. Lately, we see guys come out and not be reinserted until garbage time.

Never was aware of that. Then, JC really did use their mistake as a teaching moment while it was fresh in the player's mind, and then gave him another chance soon after. Good strategy for sure, from a HOF coach.
