IMO we're seeing less parody overall in Div. 1, in part due to the covid year extension of eligibility coming to an end.
The more liberal transfer rules and NIL help compensate for the lesser amount of experienced talent available in the player pool overall.
But top 10 teams seem to be weaker than they've been in the recent past.
Stanford is no longer and even Vandy seems to be a paper tiger.
With Juju injured, Div. 1 seems to be devoid of more experienced superstars.
Notre Dame seems to also be kaput.
The talent level & depth of too many teams simply appears to be too thin.

Stanford and Notre Dame are working under new coaches. When coaches the caliber of Muffet and Tara retire or leave, most every team regressed significantly. Look at Tennessee after Summit. Vanderbilt is actually building in comparison. Watch out for what happens to us when Gino decides to leave.
I do think both the portal and NIL are making it easier for the big WBB schools to fill their roster with talent at the expense of everyone else. HS recruiting was always a crap shoot, and still largely is, but the portal is a supermarket for talent, and the word seems to get out that big money is available for sophomores-senior with the right talent. Raiding the mid majors of 'surprise' talent is happening in a big way, and raiding fellow P4 conference is also rampant. There are a number of completed transfer the first few days after the portal opens - it would take longer if there wasn't back channel information flowing.
I am not accusing schools with tampering though I suspect there is some. But they don't really need to, social media and a player's posse get the job done.
