Hot take here but I think making an 8 team playoff drastically changed recruiting. This in turn results in top recruits being more evenly distributed, possibly ending these alabama, clemson type super teams.

How is a game you know the outcome of more meaningful?
Up the bowl standard to 8 wins. Not lower the playoff standards.

They should do both. Changing the playoff standard to let in the 5th to 8th best teams isn't lowering the standard. It'd be the equivalent of changing the basketball tournament to allow 2-seeds. Those teams never win.

Kelly Bryant played Alabama the year before and lost 24-6. They couldn't move the ball. Bryant went 18-36 for 124 yards and 2 picks. So.. yeah Dabo knew.

My point exactly both Lawrence and Fields were #1 recruits. Dabo could have easily stuck with Kelly after they went 10-2 and started off the next season I believe 5-1, but he went with Lawrence. Fromm should have been on a short leash because after that NC game he was mediocre his whole career.
