CFP Eliminator 2023

Teams remaining by conference (undefeated teams in bold):
ACC: 1 (Florida State)
Big 12: 1 (Texas)
Big Ten: 2 (Ohio State, Michigan)
Pac-12: 2 (Washington, Oregon)
SEC: 2 (Georgia, Alabama)
CUSA: 1 (Liberty)

P5: 8
G5: 1

Georgia, Michigan, Washington, and Florida State are all in with wins next week.

G5 NY6 bowl race among eligible teams (three losses=elimination)

Undefeated:
Liberty

One loss:
Tulane
Toledo

Two losses:
SMU
Miami (OH)
Troy

IMO, the G5 order of operations.

If Tulane wins, they are in.
If SMU wins, they will leapfrog Liberty.

That's it folks.

Shout out to JMU & Jacksonville State....both deserve to be in bowl games this year...According to this, they are:

While JMU didn't enter the year eligible for a bowl game, NCAA rules allow for second-year transitioning teams to make a bowl game if there aren't enough 6-6 teams. After Saturday's results, there's a shortage of 6-6 teams, and JMU and Jacksonville State are both reportedly going to fill bowl slots.11 hours ago

Oregon is eliminated.

8 teams remain.

Washington is the 1st team to clinch a CFP place.

Florida State and Michigan have clinched places in the CFP due to being undefeated P5 conference champs.

Liberty is eliminated by virtue of playing in a G5 league and there being too many P5 teams left with less than two losses.

Georgia and Ohio State are eliminated by virtue of not winning a conference championship.

Alabama is eliminated by virtue of losing to Texas head to head.

Texas is the final team to clinch a CFP berth.

4 teams remain (in order of seed 1-4):

1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Florida State
4. Texas

Though I originally thought SMU would pass Liberty, I think two losses is too much to overcome for the Mustangs given that the AAC was down this year.

Liberty will be the G5 NY6 bowl representative.

Unfortunately, look for Texas to be #3 and Alabama #4.

We'll see, but FSU went undefeated. Can't see them being left out.
Agreed, it's not fair. They need to choose a first time outcome. The cynic in me sees them following their usual pattern or favoring the SEC.

SEC champ left out

or

Undefeated P5 champ left out

Perhaps being left out will be the final push FSU needs to leave ACC.
