CCSU Post Game Thread

Ehhh…. This post you might have kept in your back pocket for a couple of weeks.

We racked up nearly 700 yards of offense and some players won nationwide recognition for play yesterday.

JF did miss some throws… or did receiver cut left when they should have cut right?

Lots of new receivers out there.

You may end up being right but not yet IMO
I thought Joe F played well above average. He missed a few but also dropped some dimes. He’s easily the best QB we’ve had in a long, long time. As good as every one thinks Evers played (which was a marked improvement), he’s still staring down receivers and not seeing the field. He looks better, but a quality team eats him alive if he can get past his primary.

Everyone on this board knows I'm a big JF guy, but we need to accept that he is an average FBS quarterback. And that's great for us. But he is going to miss reads and miss guys. He's going to have too much zip when he should have touch and he's going to have too much touch when he should have zip.

Based on the purgatory we've been through, his competence feels like Vince Young. But he's just Joe.
He is an above average FBS QB and UConn was lucky to pick him up. Thank you Nick Charlton. Here are his career stats:

59.4% completion %, 7,530 yards, 68 TDs, 17 Int, 141.2 QB rating.

Last year his QB rating was 152.9, which was ranked #15 nationally in FBS. His 20 TD passes last year were the 6th most by a UConn QB all time and the most by a UConn QB in 20 years.

Compared to virtually every other large event facility in the Northeast, the Rent is an easy out. Way better than Foxboro, Met Life, BC,. Fenway,…
Both posts are true. Getting out of the Rent with 30k or 35k people is as easy as it’s going to be anywhere. On the other hand, parking at the Rent has become more complicated the last few years because, at least in the blue lot, for the first few hours there are no attendants and folks park wherever they want.

Crazy speculation, gridiron performance for about a decade resulted in fewer fans, fewer vehicles, and decreased need for extra egress, LAZ parking staff, costs, etc.
I think the most likely explanation is so that LAZ can have less people on staff by reducing the exits. The need has always been there. PAWS makes 20k people exiting the stadium look like it's the Rose Bowl.

If UConn Football wants to make the biggest game day impact for the fan experience in my opinion, they should open the South Gate and force LAZ to staff accordingly...

What's amazing here on the Boneyard is that we have had some really garbage QBs and some people twisted themselves into pretzels insisting that these guys were actually good.

Now that we have a good QB there are a few people trying to twist themselves into pretzels to convince us that he isn't good.

Amazing.

Is he the best QB we have had since Dan O?

I certainly am not complaining about our QB situation. There were things he could and will improve on. I just think the bar of "awful" needs to be elevated and made some observations based on that.

Some of those balls he threw looked like they were on a wire. He made some bad decisions too. His career stats are much better than average.
