@GavinKeefe: Ollie said that Cassell's absence means more playing time for Terrence Samuel.

Wish him a successful recovery. Time for TSam and Purvis further step up. Down to four true perimeter players- Boat, Calhoun, Purvis and TSam.

Have we ever had this many injuries in one season?

Probably our worst luck was 2005, when we had two guys with life-threatening illnesses, and then a few injuries on top of that. We've also had awful timing on some - Donny in 1994, Ricky in 1996, KEA in 2000, AJP in 2008.

I remember Khalid's injury vividly. We had at least two more wins in us that tourney . He tried to play and couldn't go and then Freeman crying as his career ended that game . AJs injury (knee) cost us about 1-2 more wins that tourney also. Other than those two I just remember Emekas back spasms and the day Thabeet almost lost his arm. This season we're up to about 6 injuries that cost us cohesion at the beginning of the season.

Dyson in 2009!! Worst ever.
We we're 21-2 before his knee decided not to comply mid-season, and we still made the final four! Imo, the most "overall talent" we've ever had in a backcourt, was the o8-09 season.

Wasn't it like two years ago we finished the season with only 7 guys dressing for games and Bazz playing on crutches?

Yea one injury after another to close out the ban year. Omar sprained his wrist and it got to the point where he missed the last game and a half, Bazz broke his pinky toe in the GT game, finished that out but missed the next two and gutted out the finale, Giffey broke his finger in the 3rd to last game, then Olander broke his foot in the 2nd to last game.

It was the best especially if you factor in a solid Craig Austrie .

Yep, if we werent banned, we were toast in the post season. We probably would have went from a 6-8 seed to a 10+ seed over that last couple weeks.

The bench on that team without Dyson was thin.
When we got into foul trouble, I believe Beverley and Edwards had to play significant minutes. .As a Sophomore and junior those two were not ready for prime time.

The box score from that last game is something:

A two man bench of Tolksdorf and Brendan Allen, 42 minutes from RJ at the 3, 34 minutes from Philly. Still not sure how that squad managed to beat PC, and in OT no less. Amazing.

Edwards was fine as a 3rd big after Hasheem and Jeff, Hasheem and Jeff rarely got into foul trouble during that 08-09 season and when Hasheem did have the occasional slip up Edwards came up with the games against Gonzaga and Notre Dame on the road. DBev was strictly mop up duty, he didn't play much at all.
