What an amazing ambassador for the program. Class act and example of why second chances can work out for both parties.

or any other coach, player or friend. It was about him and his relationship with the officer. Hard to get worked up over him not mentioning JC.

Caron. Because we would have won it all in 03 and 04 (while I was in school). That and talent aside, he was easily one of the top 3 players in uconn history to root for because of his past, his emotional connection with the fans and program and his toughness.

Caron Butler begat Nate Miles ...

We had a successful re-calibration of a single fatherless kid from an absolutely awful Racine background & Calhoun had a few others that fit this mode. JC honestly - besides the basketball drive - had a mission to rehab talented hardscrabble kids (as he self-identified). I don't think the wide circle of Writers (many of whom have attained far greater stature over the last 15 years) really understood that about Calhoun. He sought the Miles connection & he loved the Butler process. I'm not going to opine on the whole Nochimsen/Beau/Sellers ring of support. But, we now have this whisper campaign (many of whom are buddies with Calipari and/or Pitino - wholesome father figures that they are) that Calhoun ran a dirty Program. I frankly don't care. ONE Caron Butler success story validates all of the rest.

It was a great piece no doubt but not to mention JC's influence or UCONN's makes it incomplete. Granted he had already turned things around.

It can't be Drummond because of the postseason ban. Rudy would have made the 07 team a whole lot better, but they still wouldn't have been contenders. The answer has to be Caron, because not only would the 03 team in all likelihood have won the national championship, but also because that program in upstate New York would have zero.

Well, we were ineligible last year, so that rules out Drummond. And the 06-07 team needed a lot more than Gay. Out of those 3 choices, it's clearly Caron - we would have 4 titles and Cuse would have zero.

Counting everyone, I would have liked to see us try to repeat with Rip, Ben/Oak, or Kemba. Back to backs are so rare, and the last two to do it had everyone come back.

Or one more year of Nadav.
