!!
Let me ask a hypothetical question (and that hypothesis may not be well-founded): If she plays in each game from now to the end of the season, does that have any impact on her eligibility for 2025-26 if she should choose to return? We need the basketball / NCAA lawyers on The Boneyard to weigh in on that (looking at you, @stamfordhusky !)
Caroline turns 23 in November. I can't see her wanting to play two more years. I just hope she can play next year without issues. Before today, she had two years of eligibility left since last year could be counted as a medical hardship year. After stepping on the court today, she now has one year left. Whether she plays in any more games this year is irrelevant unless the NCAA chooses to ignore its own rule, which I don’t believe they ever have done. Per NCAA rules, once a player has played any part of a game in the second half of the season, that uses up a year of eligibility.
I wonder about that, too. I do think if she ever did want to, she could petition the NCAA for another year, and most likely in her case could probably get it.Caroline turns 23 in November. I can't see her wanting to play two more years. I just hope she can play next year without issues.
Hopefully she is able to play next season and is completely healthy, because I think the scenario where the NCAA would grant her a sixth year would involve something unfortunate happening.I wonder about that, too. She seems like a high IQ player and wonder if maybe coaching could be in her future as well.
If she participates in Senior Day I think we'll have our answer as to what her plans are. She may already know basketball is not going to be her career which means moving on.
The fact that her parents flew in for the game was a pretty good indicator I think.I had a very good feeling that she was going to play. If you looked when they showed the end of the bench you would see that she had her warm up pants off all game. She wore them every other game. Glad to see her on the floor playing with her family in attendance.
