So happy to see her. She appeared to be wearing protective headgear similar to that soccer players wear. It looked like a headband, but wider and thicker.

Yes, I didn't expect to see this either. If she can get up to speed over the next six weeks, even slowly, it will go a long way to compensate for the absence of Morgan Cheli (a very similar kind of player).

Let me ask a hypothetical question (and that hypothesis may not be well-founded): If she plays in each game from now to the end of the season, does that have any impact on her eligibility for 2025-26 if she should choose to return? We need the basketball / NCAA lawyers on The Boneyard to weigh in on that (looking at you, @stamfordhusky !)

Before today, she had two years of eligibility left since last year could be counted as a medical hardship year. After stepping on the court today, she now has one year left. Whether she plays in any more games this year is irrelevant unless the NCAA chooses to ignore its own rule, which I don’t believe they ever have done. Per NCAA rules, once a player has played any part of a game in the second half of the season, that uses up a year of eligibility.

Caroline turns 23 in November. I can't see her wanting to play two more years. I just hope she can play next year without issues.

Certainly a surprise, a wonderful one at that! I think all our expectations were for Senior night at home, so I wonder if there was any special family or friends situation related to Butler? Apparently she is cleared for play and while it is late in the season for her to get game ready, it might be an indication of her intent to come back next year. Wow!

I wonder about that, too. I do think if she ever did want to, she could petition the NCAA for another year, and most likely in her case could probably get it.
She seems like a high IQ player and wonder if maybe coaching could be in her future as well.

As others have said, she'll be eligible to play one more season after this one. Theoretically if she didn't get into any games this season she would have two years of eligibility but the chances of her playing at UConn until she was 25 would be extremely unlikely. See what she can give this year and then I figure she'll make a decision whether or not to try to play next year. Unless they really hit the portal hard, they aren't going to need her roster spot so she'll have time to decide, and I'm sure she could keep the roster spot next year in a role like she had this year if need be. I'm sure she has a role with UConn WBB for life if she wants it.

Hopefully she is able to play next season and is completely healthy, because I think the scenario where the NCAA would grant her a sixth year would involve something unfortunate happening.

I had a very good feeling that she was going to play. If you looked when they showed the end of the bench you would see that she had her warm up pants off all game. She wore them every other game. Glad to see her on the floor playing with her family in attendance.

The fact that her parents flew in for the game was a pretty good indicator I think.
