“That’s why kids come to Saint Mary’s, to play in those kind of games,” said Saint Mary’s coach Curtis Ekmark, who is also Courtney’s father. “We have kids that are very competitive and they want to play against the best. I compare it to the situation at UConn and that’s why for Courtney it’s the logical next step for her as she goes to the next level.”

“It was nice of Coach Auriemma to come by and to have him here was exciting,” Courtney Ekmark said.

“Courtney feels it’s a privilege to be going to UConn,” Curtis Ekmark added. “Not only do they recruit great players, they play the right way. That’s important to her.”

37 points in a game, 33 points in a half, 27 points in a half against Taya Reimer's team! I had thought that Courtney would be a nice piece, a smart complementary player. She is more academically talented and has a different personality, but her body and game remind me of that Taurasi kid. I think Courtney could be a star, maybe a megastar.

I am wondering if she might be the 'next' Kelly? Maybe a little more offensive minded but KF scored a lot more in HS. Sounds like she has the BB IQ thing down and the team bit down as well. And is maturing physically.

Anything like Kelly would be great. My sense is that she is not as athletic as Kelly--few are. But she is a superior shooter. Her body and scoring really remind me of Dee. Yep, she has a very high hoops IQ and a 47-game winning streak.

What we are seeing this season at UConn is a group of girls all on the same page. They have created an enviornment at UConn that is very competitive at a very high level and their appears no ceiling on performing at the highest level. To succeed you must pay a price. They all are committed to being the very best, and theyre dedication and percieverance is at an all time high. When you look at Stef and where she was as a freshman and where she is now. The committment she made and the results shes accomplished. Then theres KML who imo is the best player on the team. A great outside and now an inside game and a much better defender. BB WOW defines tremendous ability that has transposed into stardom. Kelly becoming offensive minded which has made her a complete player. What she did in the FF late in the game againest ND was what is expected of superstars. She took the game over with her defensive plays and almost single handelly pulled the win out by herself. I can go on but I will stop here as my point is.

Erk and Chong will become part of this enviornment. They will grow within this enviornment. They will not have much of a choice as thats what it is here. What has been created is something you will catch from just being around it. Its something you want to be part of. You can see it, you can see how these kids have developed within it which is proof that it works.

UConn has reached another level that many teams might not ever reach. What we are watching develop at UConn is a coaches dream. The kids are committed to a level that is driven by competition to be the very best without jealously. They know whether theyve earned their playtime or not. They know what it takes to get playtime and all are willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish that feat no matter how hard it is. Thye know in their minds if theyre deserving or not. They are willing to work with each other to help each other get better and to understand the system. Thats why they are such an unselfish team driven by perfection.

As seen this season everybody is getting their chance to play and eveyone of the players on the team contributes. It is truly amazing to watch, and in the the coming years its going to only get better.

Great attitude. We are definitely getting a good one. From what I've seen in videos, her body style and her game reminds me of Annie Strother
