Candid Coaches: Is it better for UConn to stay in the Big East or try to join the Big 12 or ACC?

According to John Skipper, who negotiated the contracts for ESPN...re adding Cal teams..

“The ACC Network has contracts with all the distributors that pay an in-conference fee and pay an out-of-conference fee based on state,” Skipper said. “And that is not negotiable. That is enforceable. And suddenly all of those subscribers—it’s a declining universe—there’s still 15 million subscribers in that footprint, give or take, and they would suddenly be paying a couple of bucks a year for the ACC Network.”
John Skipper was a known cokehead.

John Skipper, like many corporate types, I suppose, was a drug user...who admitted that he had been what he thought of as a "recreational user"...until his dealer blackmailed him and he confessed to Iger.

A sad tale..

yada, yada...I'll take ESPN's version over your opinion.

Ex President of ESPN...or your off the top of your head musing ?

And what is left unsaid is how many cable companies flat out refuse to carry the ACC Network

How many cable subscribers is that?

If you don't see how UConn in the Big East is attractive to recruits you're lost. A superstar kid from Maine is deciding between Duke and UConn. Kansas has always pulled top kids from all over the country. Syracuse is a truly strong program.
UConn would easily attract kids if it were in the ACC too. The BE is a good BB conference - no doubt. But, UConn is the root cause of the attraction, not the BE. With 5 BB Nattys, under 3 coaches in 3 different conferences, in the last 25 years you're going to attract talent regardless of conference.

I must take exception to your statement about Syracuse being a "truly strong program", however. How so? They have 1 Natty period, two decades ago with one and done Carmelo Anthony. Lately they have been abysmal. Syracuse gets a lot of BS hype because of media connections, not because of a spate dynamic performances on the court.

ESPN was more successful with the ACCN since if a cable company carries ESPN, they carry the ACCN....how many cable companies do not carry ESPN ? ACCN was bundled.

Not so with the Big Ten Network,,,,Comcast does not have them in non footprint states.

You'll never join the Big 12, all the "trying" in he world won't help.

Say it with me guys, UConn has no value to us.

We don't want you. Never have and probably never will. Set your sights elsewhere.

Heard the MAC might have an opening. Maybe C-USA.
