Canadian Big Man Kasongo Enjoys UConn Visit

Hmm.

Think about it.

You have hours and hours and hours of practice to show the coach that you deserve more than 81 minutes of mop-up time. If you happen to get 81 minutes of mop-up time, it's because you've only managed to carve out that role for yourself.

I'm not arguing, necessarily, that he is going to be a good or even contributing player. I was referencing the specific observations listed in tenspro's post: "isn't really a credible rebounder or interior defender...spot-up shooter who happens to be 6'8". It could be as simple as, the guys ahead of him in the rotation are better than him. We have no idea what his limitations/strengths are unless we've seen him play in practice on a regular basis, which I'm assuming nobody on this board has.

Why don't guys commit on their visits?

He came with his parents. If I were a parent, I'd tell him to take the trip to Oregon, but then make his decision quickly because this is his best offer.

he hasn't set up up any other visits as of yet and LSU just signed another big, I think after the Oregon trip he'll be making a decision.

I disagree, it's bad parenting if you ask me. Why look elsewhere when you know UConn and Kevin Ollie is the best option? If he were my son I would've made him commit to UConn the day he got offered. UConn is always the best offer and don't forget it :)

Why not visit another school and confirm that UConn is the best option? Especially if the other visit is only a week later?

Okay, we need mauconn or some other loyal Boneyarder to go to OR or if we have one there, to become the creepy OR fan stalker on campus.

One thing Oregon has going for it is there are already 2 Canadians on the roster.

And the best facilities in college athletics

I thought winning mattered. If that's the criteria then UCONN is the choice and the basketball facilities will be second to none. If he wants to be a pro, UCONN is the choice, period.

When I think of Oregon, I think of the movie The Goonies, beavers, and Uncle Cliffy.

Oregon has the best facilities around... Nike $$ flows into that place.

True, but Nike money can't give you trophies or banners. Or photos of players in the NBA. I think Oregon won a title in 1938 or so, and I believe Luke Ridnour went there.

So that's their Wall of Fame. A 1938 trophy and a poster of Ridnour. And a really big Nike logo.

But there was a time we had nothing and guys came because they believe in Jim Calhoun's program, so you never know what sways recruits. A shiny palace of a facility might be enough ammo if a recruit really likes the coaching staff.

Not denying any of this... Just stating that Oregon has something to offer in regards to their facilities and the Nike connection.

I'm glad he's checking out Eugene. It's a beautiful place, but lacking in the best ice cream place in all universities!:)

I suppose if your entire life is condensed into a single event, scoring 111 points in a game is better than some alternatives.

I can't imagine scoring that many points!

Luke Ridnour AND Luke Jackson. Hey, if his name were Luke, Oregon would be a natural fit. Who could argue it. But, since his name is RAY....
