Where to begin:
.) Please sit AG. And, if he somehow does get on the floor, do not allow him to shoot. Penetrate if you must , but kick it out. Do NOT under almost all conditions shoot, you don't make near enough. You are no Khalid, Kemba, Shabazz or Boatwright.
.) Please do give Bouknight 40 minutes a night (or close to it. See Florida with its freshman). More importantly, can we find him outside the arc and have him shoot. I love the Ray Allen impersonation (sure reminds me of RA), but I'll bet he'll be UConn's best outside shooter. Build the offense around him.
.) Put Akok closer to the basket. He is six- freakin-nine. Let him work to get some offensive rebounds and some put backs. Why is he standing at the top of the arc so often?
.) Don't let Akok disappear in the second half of every game. Bet he can play a full game.
.) Please don't ever allow Whaley to shoot. Don't push it down low to him, don't drop it off to him on a drive. He does not know what to do with the ball. Only exception is if he gets a gift look under the offensive basket. Even then . . .
.) Please, someone, work non-stop with Carlton on catching the basketball clean. He has terrible hands. Some guys are slow, and don't get offers to D1 programs. Some can't jump well, an obvious limitation in their game. Good hands ( the ability to catch most passes cleanly) are equally iymportant if you are going to be effctive at this level. And, let's not go crazy with pushing the ball into him. Carlton has been a puzzle: do something well, make two mistakes, get something else positive, then three more screw ups. A little more consistency and he could be more of an asset to this team.
.) Get Polley more looks for a jumper. But don't go crazy with these falling away/ moving away threes. Square him up.
.) Remember shooters: Bouk, Polley, Vitale, Akok and maybe, Adams. Limited shots: Carlton and maybe if he starts showing something (anything), AG.
