Where to begin:

1.) Please sit AG. And, if he somehow does get on the floor, do not allow him to shoot. Penetrate if you must , but kick it out. Do NOT under almost all conditions shoot, you don't make near enough. You are no Khalid, Kemba, Shabazz or Boatwright.

2.) Please do give Bouknight 40 minutes a night (or close to it. See Florida with its freshman). More importantly, can we find him outside the arc and have him shoot. I love the Ray Allen impersonation (sure reminds me of RA), but I'll bet he'll be UConn's best outside shooter. Build the offense around him.

3.) Put Akok closer to the basket. He is six- freakin-nine. Let him work to get some offensive rebounds and some put backs. Why is he standing at the top of the arc so often?

4.) Don't let Akok disappear in the second half of every game. Bet he can play a full game.

5.) Please don't ever allow Whaley to shoot. Don't push it down low to him, don't drop it off to him on a drive. He does not know what to do with the ball. Only exception is if he gets a gift look under the offensive basket. Even then . . .

6.) Please, someone, work non-stop with Carlton on catching the basketball clean. He has terrible hands. Some guys are slow, and don't get offers to D1 programs. Some can't jump well, an obvious limitation in their game. Good hands ( the ability to catch most passes cleanly) are equally iymportant if you are going to be effctive at this level. And, let's not go crazy with pushing the ball into him. Carlton has been a puzzle: do something well, make two mistakes, get something else positive, then three more screw ups. A little more consistency and he could be more of an asset to this team.

7.) Get Polley more looks for a jumper. But don't go crazy with these falling away/ moving away threes. Square him up.

8.) Remember shooters: Bouk, Polley, Vitale, Akok and maybe, Adams. Limited shots: Carlton and maybe if he starts showing something (anything), AG.

Sitting AG sounds like everyone is getting their pound of flesh. In reality, it is a state of mind that has to change. When we need a bucket, we need to work as a team to get that bucket. Our senior guards act like it is their birthright to force something like it is their turn or something every time the game is on the line. That has to change. They need to recognize who gives them the best chance to win. The players that handle the ball the most are responsible for getting the ball in the hands of teamates that have the best chance of putting the ball in the hole. Every bad outcome for us has Gilbert and Vital taking bad shots trying to "dagger" the situation. When that stops, we have a.chance.

Sitting AG is flat out stupid. He is our best on ball defender. He is the best PG on the team.

All he has to do is throttle back a little. Play a little smarter. He is forcing the play and that has led to some very ugly moments. But he can get anywhere on the floor he wants and he leads the team in assists. Everyone on this team has strengths and weaknesses. AG needs to play within his limitations and he will be fine.

We have nothing else. U cannot put badams at point and gaffney not ready. We have to ride this out. U think our offense is dead now? Try putting badams in thier and see how much worse it gets. Nothing against Adams, he’s playing over his head but he cant run point

I hear you, but how do you get AG to think like that? At crunch time he is forcing and last night it cost us. If he just played within himself the last 2 minutes of regulation we may have won. It was him dribbling up top and 4 guys standing and watching.

Somehow it worked Thursday night. Adams played well in his time last night.

completely agree. hurley is a great program manager, but is leaving a lot to be desired as an in game coach.
He coached them back from 10, he made great offensive defensive subs, he made great calls to get us to OT #2, were 5 games in bouknights played 2 games, he chose who he thought was going to get the best oppurtunity, even though alterique cant put the ball in the hoop he was penetrating all night and I think Hurley thought that was our best shot. The fact were all upset at Hurley for taking this team to double over time against a team we had no bussiness being in a fist fight with is asinine. 1 year ago we lose this game by 20, two years ago by 25. Were in year 2, everything's a grind and so far it looks like were actually going to win some big ones

A little extreme on most of the takes. Gilbert is playing horribly but we need him and he’s going to have to take and make shots, just better ones.

But you nailed it on Bouknight. He has to be a starter and a go-to player. He is ready. Who cares if he’s a freshman? Freshman in college basketball come in every year and show theirselves to be stars. Do not hold him back.

Yeah they really stunk it up during the Buffalo game when Al was out. Gilbert could still be an important part of the team but a should have a shorter leash when he feels he has to do it all himself. You’re probably gonna struggle when the player who takes the second most shots on the team is shooting less than 21%. Especially a pg who is averaging only a little over 3 apg.

People on here are never happy. With Ollie we would have never been invited to the Classic but if we did we would have lost by 50. We lost by 1 point. In double overtime. To the #18 team in the country. Stop calling Hurley the savior one game and a dud the next. This team is light-years ahead of Ollie led teams and is better than last year. There are bumps and bruises expected. I expected a much worse finish than this. Chill out folks.

The OP is just overreacting 2nd guessing, imo. Hurley's a top coach.

I have said many times - DH is too involved with the refs, with the crowd, etc and his head is not at all in the game 100% of the time - that has to change for him to be good at this level
All you people who are screaming at DH to either sit AG or tell him not to shoot are missing the point. First he will not sit the "senior" PG. There aren't many coaches who would. Second, DH has seen AG play this season and do you honestly think that AG is defying his coach and shooting at will? DH hasn't told AG to stop shooting because he knows that AG is a capable shooter but in a slump and is willing him to break out of it. AG plays superb D and that is more important right now.
I agree with the threads question but not the way some are looking at it.
I have a question: Is DH playing head games with Akok? If he is, I think he's playing with fire
