There's a new sheriff in town. Would a fresh set of eyes see the unfair penalty? Or do you need a UConn law degree to figure out our whole retroactive double whammy bull? Pun intended.

I'm sure they "could", but highly doubt it would be overturned.

It would obviously be perceived as a conflict of interest by non-UConn fans if the ban was somehow overturned. Not what the new Commish needs to start his tenure.

Remember the Cuse being banned from the 1993 NCAA tournament and being allowed to compete in the Big East tournament? That's the thing that bothers me most.

What's the point of knowing people in High places? Line one pickup, Susan's calling for you.

The purpose of the tournament is to decide a conference champion and the automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament - it's not in the conference's best interests to let UConn play.

I'm not even sure it's in UConn's best interests - not sure we would need to hear an entire week's worth of ESPN vitriol about the evils of UConn advancing round by round.

Exactly. We just need to sit it out and lay low. No more bad publicity.

Wait didn't you post that you run the tourny and have the best "qualified" team earn the tourny berth? UConn gets to play in MSG for a week and whomever gets the bid.

It wouldn't be the first thing I'd do as commissioner but I'd consider if it meant addtional revenue (and it does.)

I never posted that - I have no interest in seeing UConn in the Big East Tournament. I don't see much upside for us and there's none for the conference. (Which, btw, is why we ain't in it.)

Considering our roster this is the best time for our team to sit out the Tourney. Had we had a powerhouse it would have been devastating. They just need to play each game as if a Tourney (i.e. one and done). If they play like, that then I have my Tourney fix for the year.

Anyway this team can wait. having no seniors and avoiding the Kemba effect (outstanding Tourney with 'automatic' NBA draft consequences). This is the best chance for all to return another year. If that happens then I feel sorry for those opposing teams playing against a hungry, previously denied, anxious and experienced team. Good year for them to solidify chemistry.

It's also pretty convenient for the BE to drop us to bring the number of teams to an even number. With WVU out and their replacement not coming for another year they had to either exclude 1 team or give another team a bye.

It's not in the school's best interest to fight this. The team will have to look at each game as being the most important game that they're going to play. And who better than Jimmy to make them see it that way?

It's not hard to schedule the BET with an odd number of teams. You could just give one more team a first round bye (9 1st round byes and the same 4 2nd round byes).
