He did make a dunk, that was good. The two foot hook shot is his nemesis.

He does fade a ways when there is no reason. What's up with that?

He's the only one who has any low post moves. He hasn't often made the shot, but that's gotta change, right? I mean, how many bunnies can he miss?

Nolan is a nice guy and a great teammate. Now with that being said plant his ASS on the bench and #FREEFACEY

I trust Ollie, who's spent about infinity times more time at practice with these guys than we have.

That said, if Facey can't even get off the bench with how limited we are in the frontcourt, that seems to cast serious doubt on the likelihood of his being a meaningful contributor over the next 1-2 years.

He blew those two little bunnies but I really liked how he played. He sadly might be our best post up guy.

There's no might about it. From the 5 position, he's the only one who offers any, even meager, interior offense.

On the opposite end, the advantage Olander brings is that he opens up the interior for Daniels.

And neither bring the rim protection of Brimah.

Combining even two of them would make our year that much better.

No one thinks Nolan is a low post weapon so you don't need to fabricate stats...

Thought Phil was decent today, much better. Lost his guy once by not moving his feet, bad too, but bounced back with some nice D when left one on one.............he has nice moves and is in deep for those jump hooks - they will go in. I liked his game tonight

He actually has good offensive potential. He looks very poised and comfortable with the ball on the block. Every time he has gotten the ball in an iso situation this year, he has gotten exactly the shot he was looking for. Now if he would just jump for rebounds.

I think your post mis-represents the situation a little bit. With Giffey and Daniels scooping up all the minutes at the four, it's really only been the center position that's been problematic. The fact that Facey isn't getting minutes doesn't tell us anything about how good he'll be going forward, it just means Giffey and Daniels are better players right now who fit our current philosophy better. Facey is a four - many of us wrongly assumed he'd spend time at the five this season, but as it turned out, he was a little lighter and maybe a little shorter as we originally thought, so we've been forced to use him exclusively as a power forward.

Phil is developing. If he can establish that little hook to his left it'll be great.

I do want to see more of Facey. From what i've seen he's given solid minutes when he's in and he was NY Gatorade player of the year so he's got the skill. He must be showing KO in practice that he isn't ready?

Again, why the anti-Nolan sentiment? He's done absolutely nothing to earn it. He's not Doug Wrenn, Antonio Kellog, Doug Wiggins, Dan Wetzel, Josh Nochimson, etc. He may not be a stud at the 5 yet but there's no evidence that shows a lack of effort (maybe a lack of focus on those 2 TOs at the end of the first half). He's doing well in the classroom and gave us good minutes tonight on the court. If we're going to dislike a player, let's wait to do it until said player proves it's deserved.

Not every two-foot miss is created equal. There's the play when someone else breaks down the defense and sets you up with a bunny and you blow it, and then there's the play where you get the ball on the low block, put a decent post move together and don't finish. The first type is frustrating as hell, the second type is more encouraging.

We're really criticizing our best OFFENSIVE big right now? If we want this team to be as good as it could be, WE NEED A LOW POST THREAT.

At least Nolan put himself in the position to receive the ball in the paint, backed down his man, and posted-up for a shot. None of our other bigs is capable of doing that right now. He missed a few easy ones yesterday, but it's not like he missed them horribly. I think 2 of them back-rimmed, so he was right on-line and put just a little too much on it. I think he makes those shots in the future. At least he is comfortable enough to attempt it and put himself in the situation for a high-percentage shot.

Sure, he missed the shots, but we will NEED some semblance of offense from our low-post in the future, and Nolan offers that. None of our other bigs offer that for us right now. Keep trotting Nolan out there.

Your point is well-taken, and frankly it reinforces another contention I've made about Facey: his particular combination of diminutive size and lack of perimeter skill makes him ill-suited at any position in Ollie's 2013-14 system. In short, he has the size of someone like Daniels, and all the shortcomings in strength that go along with it, but without the ability to play beyond 15 feet from the hoop.

Unless he develops into a CJ Fair type, I'm not sure what role Facey has on this team. It's only if Ollie is willing to play with only 3 perimeter-capable players on the floor at a time, which hampers slashing and dribble penetration.

Add Boatright to this thread. The guy makes incredible moves to set himself up for layups and short jumpers and misses more often than not. If he could finish and make these shots his numbers would be through the roof.
