I have to agree with you we do how it turned out however we will never know how it might have changed if UConn was heathy. I’m sure you would agree if Paige was 100 percent and Azzi wasn’t sick and Dorka didn’t break her wrist Amari was healthy it may have been different ending
Lotta ifs.

IF we hadn’t played in November, your ifs would be stronger Tony. carry on Mr. Glass is always half full. But remember, @sharris is a Gamecock version of you. Two FANatics.

For those that don't subscribe to The Athletic: archive.ph

"The two heavyweights seemed destined to battle it out in a second overtime, but sophomore forward Kiki Iriafen mistakenly called timeout after snatching a rebound with five seconds left."

Seemed destined? Stanford was down 73-71 when Iriafen got the rebound. They needed to transverse the entire court with no timeouts to set up anything, with Brink who scored more than a third of their team points gone and Jones was a combined 1-12 in the 2nd half, and 0-1 in OT. Stanford as a team was 12-38 (.316) after halftime, 9-32 (.281) without Brink. Interesting how the author just wrote it in that Stanford would make the game-tying shot against a top defensive opponent like that....

What the UCLA game shows isn’t that SC is somehow not great — that’d be preposterous. But the game did show how they’re vulnerable. The pg problem is real. I suspect their guard play will improve markedly in January. No one is going to beat them in the frontcourt, but the backcourt will continue to be the main chance for opposing teams.

As for whether Stanford deserves its ranking, if their preseason ranking made sense, then nothing has happened so far to push them down to #3. There’s plenty of reasons to suspect they don’t really deserve it now, but that’s only speculative. Given their schedule, little will happen on that side to change the rankings. And if UConn takes a single loss in its OOC schedule the preseason rankings will appear to lots of folks to have been confirmed.
