I don't want to tell a man what to do, but FDR had polio. And rickets. And a really, really ugly wife. I'd rather have polio than his wife, but he had both.

Did he let any of that keep him from showing up when we needed him? No. Or maybe yes. I don't know - history is not really my thing, but the important part is that in the movies I've seen about him, FDR showed up when it counted.

He put a little shawl on his withered, useless lil legs, crawled into his rickety wheel chair and he went to work stomping depressions and Nazis. All Calhoun has to do is stomp some hayseeds from Kentucky and some future NBDL all-stars in central New York. No Nazis, no depressions, no wife that looks like Man o War - easy peasy.

So, get the shawl, wheel him out to the bench and let's get this thing moving. We can all rest in May.

"Calhoun told his friends and assistant coaches that he wants to come back from his bout with spinal stenosis, but he will heed his doctor’s advice. He has no choice."

Hopefully this is something that can be resolved without major surgery. Again, get better, coach.

I'm a football-first kinda guy, so please forgive my ignorance:

Does Fishy's post qualify for MOJO status?...

It's not mojo, it's just well-crafted stupidity.

But on FDR and his wife...

We live relatively close to FDR's home and it's now quite a nice national park. The mansion, grounds and cottages are all preserved and both of the Roosevelts, and their dogs, are buried there.

Very historic, of course.

However, the part that I got a kick out of was the Roosevelts' bed room.

It supposedly wasn't the greatest marriage on earth and he had a long-time mistress and I think she might have had her a mistress as well. (If that's not a real rumor, I don't mind starting it.) Both of them had cottages on the grounds that they liked to spend time on...they were not even remotely close to each other.

But the bedroom is telling. They had a big bedroom on the second floor of the mansion.

Huge, fancy bed, ornate furniture, etc., etc.

Behind the bedroom was what looks like a large closet or a small servant's quarters. There was a small single bed, dresser and a small writing table.

THAT'S where FDR made Eleanora sleep!

The tour guide kinda prettied it up by saying that he needed the bed because he had polio, or whatever, but I called BS on it. (Tour guides love that.) FDR just didn't want to shack up with the Mrs. on a regular basis.

I've rewritten enough history for one day.
