JC won't be back this year. This is a tough operation.

If he is going to NYC it is probably Hospital for Special Surgery and hope that it is. It is the top 1 or 2 orthopedic hospital in the world. They have a well known spine clinic and hopefully he will see a James Farmer there. He is a very good. Took care of my wife. He seems to be conservative, not quick to cut but rather will employ least invasive treatments first. In my wife's case he opted for physical therapy for her spinal stenosis and it has worked very nicely.

Sounds like it will be surgery.

Yes it is surgery but it may not be as invasive as going in and removing discs and fusing vertebrae. The latter I would think would guarantee no return this year. Something less intensive and maybe he does return this year. Of course I think the chances of his return this year are pretty slim anyway though. We all want his full recovery

are you planning a pep rally for when he arrives and departs the hospital?

haha no but thats a good idea.

I'm starting my orthopaedic residency this summer so was just curious. HSS is a great hospital but there are several great ortho docs in the city at hospital for joint diseases and columbia as well.

I have no knowledge that it is HSS I am totalling postulating here based on the fact that he visited docs in Conn, Mass and NYC and is chosing NYC. It has been said that there are plenty of great docs in Conn and Mass and also at Columbia etc., I just thought that if he is going that far out of his way for the surgery I assume it is to one of the best. Also who ranks and how they rank these hospitals is probably questionable too. The HSS docs including Farmer are experienced with athletes. We all know that JC is as athletic as it comes when prowling the sidelines!!
